Collapse is pile of crap. He praises the Japs for abortion to keep population in check and for clearing rainforests in Brazil to keep their own forests intact.
Not to mention noting Viking homesteads sticking out of glaciers as a sign or global warming when they actually show how warm it was 1500 years ago

Unlike people, decades is not a long time for civilizations. They take centuries to build, but they also take a long time to collapse, at least from the perspective of a human observer. There are definitely long-standing trends in place right now that will result in a collapse of some magnitude, barring painful changes in the way we live. The only way to have our cake and eat it too is new forms of cheap, plentiful, portable energy. Maybe that happens but it has to be soon.

I am 49 years old. I remember as a kid hearing about Global cooling gonna kill us all by the 1990s. Then Global warming will kill us all by the 2000s. These doomsayers are like clockwork and never right.

Does he elaborate how? Does he offer solutions or just putting out a general statement?
Aquaculture will be a big sustainable industry as wild caught seafood becomes more scarce and expensive. There’s already a growing shrimp and red drum (redfish) farming industry for two popular seafood choices. There’s a ton of farms near the gulf coast south of Houston
Birth rates are declining below replacement in most of the world. I think society will naturally solve itself. If free market economies persist it will all self correct, as resources become more scarce then basic goods become more expensive. As this happens people have less kids, population declines along with demand. Eventually you reach a more sustainable society. Our resources can all be replenished over time it’s all a cycle
