There ARE resource issues, specifically fish and petro.
Humans avoid these catastrophes by figuring out ways to extend resources. We are doing that with petro by finding new ways to extract and process it, but eventually we will run out.
Fisheries is scary. I don't know how we fix that without population decline, but I'm sure it can be done with coordination among nations (that's a separate problem of "globalism" though)

The issue is not available land. I have heard that argument many times about fitting everyone into Texas. The issue is we feed the planet by pouring fossil fuel based fertilizers on land -- not to mention using fossil fuel based pesticides and fossil fuel powered equipment to move everything around. We essentially eat fossil fuels. When they go into decline, we are not going to be able to feed everyone.

Yeah, but in the 80s you weren't CONSTANTLY bombarded with doomsday narratives.
I get why SFP says that between 2008 and today is the best time to be a human on this planet.
But we're also living at a time when communications technology has outkicked our psychological coverage. We're living better than ever, but everyone is still full of anxiety all the time because of the narratives people are constantly exposed to.
The rate of depression in 1970 was 5%. Now it's 13.1% for the general population and for some demographics (younger people mostly) it's as high as 26%.
Yeah, we were in more danger in the 70s and 80s. But mostly people didn't think about it because they weren't inundated with it.

Life has gotten a LOT better for the third world/developing nations since the 90s
