Otherwise known as the Thomas Massie treatment. It also includes collaboration with media to paint them as crazed whack jobs so their opinions are discounted.

I figure it is more simple. Day 1... "_______ would like to contribute to your reelection campaign" and off we go.

Remember learning through WIKI-Leaks how the government alphabet agencies can pull up the following data on everyone: Every website visited, every search, every text, at least the number and duration of every phone call, etc…. Add to that they have license plate readers on every intersection and can pull up every place a person has visited in the last six years.

For a nobody like me they don’t bother looking at that mountain of data, but for a newly elected politician I’m sure they go over some embarrassing things and tell them they are free to govern as they see fit but when they call for a favor you WILL fall in line.

Also, we learned if someone has managed to stay clean their entire life this computer program also allows the government to invent texts, and websites visited and you can say “It wasn’t me” but who is going to believe you

A friend of mine puts it like this:

"Washington is Hollywood or Silicon Valley for ugly, untalented people."

Where they sit them down and say, here’s how it really works here.

Do this, say this, vote like this, etc?

And if so, is this enforced by threats, blackmail, or are they so convincing that people fall in line?

We see it time after time, the enthusiastic conservatives don’t last long. They become GOPe almost immediately.

I think so. They moved heaven and earth trying to remove Lohren Boebert who obviously didn't comply with the long time republicans.

The first thing they do at orientation is separate the Democrats and the Republicans. The Democrats are told "You will NOT vote for any bill that might benefit the Republicans politically. We don't care if it's good for your district. We don't care if it's good for the country."

Tulsi revealed it on the Joe Rogan show.

Yes. Heard as much from a Florida House Rep and it starts there. DC is worse.

It’s all about fund raising, staying in line and then good committees.

It’s all a scam.

Not directly.

I figure it looks something like The Distinguished Gentleman where they start getting lobbyists to line up donations based on stances and then implicitly threaten their reelection chances when they misstep.

Peer pressure and the prospect of wealth. Plus 99% of people who aspire to be politicians are doing so because they're narcissists who want power. They'll go along to get along when it comes to maintaining that

Now you are flying over the target. Any agency or agencies with this much abiltiy to mine data also have the ability to put kiddie porn files into your computer or cell phone.

I don’t think it’s anything more than most members of congress and the senate never made a lick at a snake at anything before and were just good bullshitters, came from the right family, or both, used that to get elected, and therefore have no problem selling out. Another part of them, I think, go there with legitimately the best of intentions and prepared to do work for their constituents and then fall into the pit of corruption when they come to the realization of how things are in D.C. and that they can create generational wealth with their family never having to want for anything ever again by just saying “yes” or “no” to the right things. Even the most upstanding of us will do what needs to be done when it comes to making sure ours are taken care of.

The most convincing argument for term limits that I have seen.
Well done and in a few sentences.

Just proves that our Founding Fathers were indeed good people who could not foresee the cesspool that FedGov would become, as they had literally pledged their fortunes, their honor, and their very lives to put this government in place. They could not imagine using it for their own greed.
They were willing to die for what they believed was right, the shitbags in DC now won't even answer a simple yes/no question because it might offend somebody.

I know for a fact that when Zell Miller was appointed to the Senate in 2000 Tom Daschle and Chuck Schumer took him to lunch and tried to tell him the rules of the game and he told them to go to hell.

That conversation occurs during the campaign between corporate interests and the candidate. They aren’t elected otherwise.
