Chance of confirming a worthy successor during a hypothetical GOP admin 2029-2033: probably zero (GOP won’t be able to recapture enough seats in 28).

Both or one of them could announce a retirement this week and be replaced in December
pretty dumb they didn’t retire last year

Hasn’t even been a guarantee to begin with based on a recent inventory of that.

You’re high if you think the GOP has the fortitude to unify right now and get justices appointed

One should have retired in January 2025 and the other not long after.
Protecting those seats for the next 20 or 30 years should have been priority #1 for the administration.
Thomas and Alito should have known better. What will they do now, work another 6 years and pray.

If only they had a recent example to show them what could happen.

History will show that Trump the best thing that ever happened to the global-marxist.

Nothing will happen with the SCOTUS for the rest of 2026. Now let's assume there comes a vacancy in 2027. Now the Mitch McConnel play will happen where the Democrats will refuse to set hearings. Payback.

You knew it was over when the SC held the OSHA vaccine mandate case over Christmas break and let people simmer on either participating in mass medical experimentation or contemplating whether they'd have a job when they got back to work in January.
Living constitutionalists won.
And It's all over but the cryin.

You think having the next Presidential election be in large part a referendum on who gets to pick an empty SC seat would play better into the Democrats' hands than the Republicans'?

The Dems are going to pack the court anyways
They have told you this
Maybe it is the best thing that can happen because if we ever win again we can pack it right back

Could they?
Considering the Senate knows they are out of power in 2 months, would they even try to push through a Nominee?

The uniparty-marxist-technocracy will rule from here on out.
They'll be no second bite at the apple.

I am saying that even if there was a vacancy, with Trump nominating, the Democrat senate would just use the McConnel precedent and refuse to hold hearings.

I think this is lip service. Even they're not dumb enough to try this.

They could both resign this week and they could have them replaced by early to mid December.
...but they won't.
...but they won't.

They won't, because they know Thune won't replace them. It's crazy how trusting of the establishment conservatives have become.
Many conservatives, and all moderates, simply aren't smart enough to think that far ahead.
They think giving democrats full control over the Supreme Court is an appropriate reaction to being unhappy with prices. And instead of accepting that they acted like petulant children and threw away the future of the country, they will pretend that the people who refused to pass the SAVE Act will somehow approve the constitutional justices they want now.
Conservatives cannot win with that level of thinking.
