Just like the baby formula shortage.

That one is a bad example as the supply shortage has little to do with panic buying and mostly to do with initial shortages. Panic buying is inevitable when there are supply issues so don't be surprised when it happens to every commodity.

many refineries even right now are converting units that make diesel fuel into “renewable” fuels units.

Shell Convent sits there idle not producing one drop of diesel. Shell's plans are to convert that over to an alternative fuels facility. I have no idea what "alternative fuels" are exactly.

And that facility was in pretty good shape overall. Motiva should buy it.

And don’t forget that Phillips 66 down south of Belle Chasse just shut down as well.

Collapse of our Border (population and sovereignty), Justice, Media and Electoral Systems and basic Infrastructure Economy is real. The only issue is whether the ‘collapse’ is the Saul Alinsky “engineered collapse “ version or no. As the pain increases people’s belief in that issue will determine their response.

It was a pretty shitty place and then it had some flooding during hurricane Ida. They just made a decision that it was not worth keeping it open.

Truckers should suspend all shipments to the DC and Northern VA areas due to fuel shortages.

Shutting down the country caused motor fuel demand to disappear. This caused profit margins to erode forcing out the most unprofitable players in the market- read, high labor cost, high maintenance cost facilities.

Now that demand has returned there are less facilities open to produce and less countries available to supply crude.

With Convent, Alliance, LB Houston (and etc) running, and normal supply side availability, crack spreads aren't in the 30-40s like they are now.

Thank you! That makes sense. Add inflation and here we are at $7.00 fuel.

not like refineries stop making diesel

Nope.

But, we've shuttered over 1 millions barrels/day of crude processing via shutdown of multiple refineries.

Roughly 11 million gallons of diesel / day off the Market.

And, that's in the US alone.

We've talked about the possibility of this was coming (at least as pertains to diesel in the northeast), but it's no longer "coming", it's here.

If diesel is starting to become scarce, unleaded can't be too far behind.

More than that though, transportation of goods runs on diesel. This means stores in those areas are going to start seeing decreased inventories. That means more unrest right as Summer begins, the traditional time of year when people are out and about (camping, grilling, picnics, etc).

The shite has just started to hit the fan and will soon go deep if something doesn't change very, very soon.

WTF? we are importing diesel AND gas from Europe. Unbelievable why we can't produce it all here. No wonder its so expensive.

quote:

In a sign of the stabilizing supply picture in Europe, at least one tanker carrying a cargo of diesel, Lunaria, which headed from the Saudi Red Sea port of Yanbu to Europe has been diverted in recent days to the United States, according to Refinitiv ship tracking and traders.

It's "won't" produce it here. Not "can't".

Why should the government give anyone or anything “free” money?
