IOW, you don't have to look presentable or professional; you can lounge around all day in your pajamas and slippers with Side Show Bob hair and generally look like a f'king slob.

Looking professional requires an actual modicum of effort.

Black Americans

Can we please, for the love of god, stop capitalizing Americans? It reeks of superiority and diminishes the citizens of other countries.

We had an engineer from Singapore working here on temporary assignment. One Monday he shows up wearing an Astros ball cap. I asked him if he had become an Astros fan and he replied "No, bad hair cut".

She could be a remote worker in Namibia. That should be even more comfortable.

I doubt very seriously they have the infrastructure for her to work remotely in Namibia (and never will quite frankly), and it's a shame because I'd damn sure like to see her go there and stay there. Just please don't send her to Costa Rica.

Misleading article. I know whites who don't want to return to the office, but they probably wouldn't get much support by calling it "Why many Democrat voting employees don't want to return to the office".

Black workers told CBS MoneyWatch that being in a predominantly White workplaces often exacts an emotional toll. Working from home offers a measure of inner peace and even helps them do their jobs better, they said.

Ah. So, racial segregation is the answer.

Ok then.

Know why employers didn't stick long with the "remote working" thing? Because productivity took a steaming shite across the board, among all demographics.

But if it's gotta be about race, frick it. Let's divide this shite up and get it over with.

Of course many people like the work from home option. It allows many indirect subsidies such as reduced childcare expenses, transportation costs or just straight commute time. The problem is that in most cases it comes at a direct cost of performance to your employer.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but has anyone here or that you know ever asked a black person in an office setting about their hair?
Nope.

And I'll expand things a bit. I attended a church in Los Angles for 20 years that was 40% black, with the rest a mixture of white, Hispanic, and Asian. Among the women I heard a lot of comments like, "I like your dress." Or "that's a pretty necklace/bracelet/whatever. I never heard anybody ask anybody about their hair. Fwiw

Not clicking reading. Does it say if the white people were in the office when she applied, interviewed, accepted and actually worked on site before covid?
I mean, if I could say blacks or gays made my work environment stressful I'd love to work from home, too.

Imagine how the media would react to white people not wanting to return to work because there’s too many black people there.

I would NEVER.............repeat NEVER take a job with a black female boss.

I’ve had a lot of bosses. The one black female boss I had was the best of all of my former bosses. That job started going to shite as soon as she left. Probably 75% or more of my real world job skills Came from the mentorship she gave me in the 6 months or so we worked together. I would absolutely work for her again in a heartbeat. I HATED the person they eventually replaced her with (white woman).

I've worked in lots of office settings with women. Women talk about their/each other's hair. I haven't noticed "dumb" questions or anything racially untoward in decades of experience. (And, yes, I've witnessed very inappropriate comments, but not on the hair issue.)

STFU!

No one thinks you are a victim of anything except for liberal old white women who have never had to work.

Ive often seen women with dreads/weaves pat their heads, which is quite odd if you have never seen it before.

There are literally millions of male employees who are balding. Should they get some special treatment to help them through their anguish at the office?
