The 40% is supposed to be households so the percent of Americans that don't pay income tax is much higher.
And they will use other stats like 30% of filers owed no income tax. But that doesn't include anyone who didn't file.

"Earned income tax CREDIT" It aint a fcking credit, which sounds like a deduction, its a fukn check written with some other person's money.
They get their tax dollars back AND the employer taxes paid. Its why they always say "illegals pay taxes" yes they do and get it all back plus some.
The IRS says it is rapant with fraud. When 25 checks are sent to one address in Mexico......ya might have a problem.

Frick the IRS. Been dealing with them over my father's 2019 taxes. Not a single one knows what a curator is or what interdicted means, even after being sent the legal docs.
No shite the man had issues in 2019. He was and still is suffering from Alzheimer's.

Well, no, part of my rent goes to pay real estate taxes. But I'm not one of the unwashed masses that thinks I'm not paying real estate taxes because I rent.
You act as if homeowners are fiscally responsible. They are not, especially where you have young middle/upper middle class owners. In most of the suburbs of metro Houston, people will vote yes on anything that has the word "school district" in it, *especially* the homeowning jeets. Another trillion dollars in bonds? No problem, it's for the children! Yes, of course we need a $70M high school stadium. Yes, of course we need a $4M STEM center that gets used by the average student twice a year and some district robot clubs use.
And all these retarded fricking homeowners fall for this shite:

While restricting voters is a slippery slope he's not wrong. I've always hated tax even if it's for the roads but man my opinion went from necessary evil to frick these moochers when I went from active duty to an engineer in industry.

Nobody wastes money more than school boards. Ours was pushing a five percent increase for a new high school. This board had already made one bad decision after another but still kept getting elected. They needed more money because they couldn’t bond a new school because of debt.
The tax increase was soundly rejected. Five years later the debt had been paid down enough to bond a bigger better new high school. And we didn’t have that five percent increase compounding forever. Because they still increase taxes every year based on homes increasing in value.

That horse has left the barn. And the barn is burned down anyway. I would settle for no negative income tax at this point. You don't put shite in, you don't get shite out. Because the same folks getting the negative returns are most likely already getting other benefits.
