No, I'm using your "logic" that if another nation can make it cheaper then they should be the ones making it, not us.

And that is stupid. It would lead to the USA being at the mercy of all other nations.

I think part of our problem is America, a basically Godless, materialistic, hedonistic shell of its' former self, has lost the ability to care about the long term.

We are a country driven by the next quarterly earnings report. Godless, materialistic, soulless and hedonistic.

You're right. His faux superiority act is embarrassing for him, because his naive and abject ignorance almost always comes shining thru.

Corporatism probably isn’t the right word for what he’s describing. Corporatocracy probably is.

Capitalism is absolutely the private ownership and trade of goods and services. The moment government does anything else besides protect property rights, it's no longer capitalism.

Not my fault society has totally fricked up the meaning of words.

Now, because populists believe in the lie that capitalism is a problem, they hate rich people just like leftists do..

Someone in here described it best when they said populism is rudderless.

That poster is pretty consistent with defense of the DC business as usual approach.

Help me out here, is it not the goal of successful companies to grow into large corporations?

Total BS. No we do not. We are and have always been for the republic. In a republic, the government has a role. It's in the beautiful document called the constitution.

The U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause, found in Article I, Section 8, Clause 3, grants Congress the power to regulate commerce with foreign nations,

Why do you hate our Constituion?

And you ignore that we then manufacture the higher margin goods we create via innovation that we find from the lower prices we enjoy.

That's how we can import so much and still be the world's best manufacturer.

The poor countries can't keep up with us so they'll never catch up to our higher level manufacturing

You just proved my point. You would be perfectly fine with the USA not making anything on our own and have to rely on other nations.

Um, no? If we want to use blanket statements, the goal of individuals is to maximize return on investment. M&A activity is usually driven by that philosophy for individual investors, whereas large corporations can have different goals, such as squashing competition.

When it's a moving target and often discussing non-critical areas? Yes.

What are all of these "national security" areas that we have lost. Give me the full list so we can discuss each one.
