I think it's highly unlikely to be effective. As someone else already posted upthread, their target demographic does not forgive. IME rednecks LIKE being angry about such things just as much as John and Jane Q. WokeDoe love being offended by political incorrectness.

They have lost an entire generation's worth of most of their target consumer demographic IMO.

Also I think the reaction is not just based on what Bud Light did here but is the culmination of a lot pent up frustration regarding identity politics, demonizing traditional values, pushing fringe agendas, and it's all coming out big time with a complete softball for people to take a stand on because it is just so easy to pick up a Miller Lite, Coors Light, Yuengling, Sam Adams, Modelo, etc, etc.

Absolutely.

or something like that - they also shot the middle finger during propaganda photos the NorK took - received severe beatings for that.

Will/can Bud Light recover from such a catastrophic public relations/advertising gaffe?

The window for recovery is closing. I was a bud light drinker. I didn’t like bud light. I loved bud light. It would have taken 2 things to pull me back in as a customer.

They needed to very publicly fire Alissa Hienerschied. In the same way any of us would have been terminated if we cut out companies revenue by 20%.

Allowing her to sit around the upper east side of NYC, not working, and getting her full salary is not punishment.

Then publicly apologizing to their customer base and simply say we will stay out of the culture wars and brew beer.

They have done neither.

Every Yuengling light I drink makes it easier to forget bud light.

We’ve been through this. Not sure why y’all love to keep posting the same BS. I’ll say what I’ve said before……

Big difference in the approach and reality of coors support vs AB.. supporting the expansion of your brand to gay customers versus pushing a brand ambassador who’s celebrating one year of wearing a costume.. a costume that is essentially a young girl. It’s wrong on so many levels.

Blue Beer Can Bad

No. But major corporation making that blue can celebrating a grown man’s pre-pubescent little girl cosplay perversion and using it to market their product to a customer base that overwhelmingly, and rightfully, finds that pervert’s trans character and the movement he is a figurehead for to be disgusting, is pretty fricking stupid.

I wonder if this is a symptom of how progressive universities have become?

Seems like brand loyalty trends and never get political isn’t being taught.

THIS!!!

It boggles my mind every time I drive by a star bucks in the south and the line is backed up 1/4 mile. They would rather piss on you than even come close to supporting southern values yet the sheep will line up.

This, plus… this isn’t just about beer. This demographic is eager to show that they can hit back hard. This boycott is a reaction to ALL of the ESG bullshite they’ve had to swallow for a decade or more. All the anger over the woke commercials, storylines, mandatory trainings, indoctrination in schools… it’s all manifested in the boycott.

So many people are missing this very basic point.

Any apology would have to include an acknowledgement that revulsion at the creepy little misogynist's mockery of women is well-founded and not based in bigotry. And I still doubt it would be enough.

Bud Light Update -
The only way out of this is for BUD to very publicly fire everyone in their organization who touched this, beginning with the ex-CIA CEO, and make clear why they were released. Even then, a product which enjoyed uniform acceptance previously, will have to settle for a portion of the consumer base it stupidly divided.

Fortunately for Anheuser-Busch, the vast majority of consumers won't make the connection between Bud Light and about 30 other BUD brands (Corona, Stella Artois, Beck's, Michelob, Shock Top, Rolling Rock, etc.). At least not yet.

Not only that, but it’s the interview the idiot woke bitch gave after defending the move and essentially shitting on her base. It’s comes off as a I’m smarter than you and this is what you need to do. The same progressive bs they have been ramming down our throats in the media every day.

Seems to be so.

Part of the reason people hate LeBron and love Michael Jordan is that Jordan recognized that truth and didn’t act divisive as a result.

LeBron wanted to be bigger than Jordan and do it in a different way. Big difference is that the likes of Ali and Jim Brown made sacrifices for their stances, walking away from their craft at their peaks to follow their hearts, which was protesting Vietnam in Ali’s case and acting in Brown’s case.

Ali’s stance may have been divisive but one can’t deny he took a hit for his stance.

Brown’s stance was far less controversial but he permanently walked away from the game at his peak because he wasn’t going to let Art Modell tell him what to do when he wanted to finish making The Dirty Dozen. “Fine me for missing training camp until I return? Well I ain’t coming back.”

LeBron? Wants to play politics while still demanding adulation from everyone and wants to do Hollywood then lose his shite over Darryl Morey doing something because he can no longer meet his contractual obligations to China, whining how an MIT educated star MBA executive isn’t “educated enough” on the subject of Hong Kong. Which is doubly rich coming from a kid who likely only made it though high school because he could shoot yet thinks he is a Civil Rights icon and genius rolled up in one.

And that is where the legs REALLY came in on the boycott.

Saying the whole thing was a mistake and a one-off may have been acceptable if this woke bitch hadn’t done interviews taking a wet steaming shite on their existing customer base and saying “a guy cosplaying as a prepubescent girl is the direction we want to go with, not a bunch of blue collar guys actually buying the product.”

I say that.

But reading commentary associated with BUD's Q1 report, there is already evidence of bleed-over.
quote:

Perhaps more troubling for A-B is that the Bud Light sales declines are having a halo effect on its other brands, indicating that drinkers are shunning the whole brand. Sales of Natural Light, Busch Light and Michelob Ultra, which growing prior to March 30, were also down for the week of April 22, according to NIQ data given to Bump Williams Consulting.

Williams told CNN that he doesn’t think A-B has “any choice in terms of commenting on the sate of their sales” and he’s concerned about how long it takes for Bud Light to recover from this “if at all.”

“My fear is that this is no longer just a Bud Light issue, it’s an entire Anheuser-Busch portfolio issue,” he said.
