'Trump’s plan, which the White House hopes the Senate will vote on in early February, would require Congress to set up a $25 billion “trust fund” to build a wall on the southern border with Mexico, and invest in better protections at the northern border with Canada.

It would also require Congress to limit family sponsorship of immigrants to spouses and minor children, end a visa lottery system for certain countries, and spend additional money on border guards and immigration judges - among other measures - the officials told reporters in a briefing. '

Interesting chess move. Chucky Schumer has already said there is no money for the wall. So if the Dems reject this plan, THEY will be the ones blamed for no solution for the 'dreamers.' And if they do go with the plan, POTUS gets a big chunk of what he wants. I guess he would sell it as a compromise of sorts to his base. I don't know how it will play with them.

Dont like it.

The dreamers can stay as long as they provide proof of employment but they cant vote and cant access entitlements.

Son of a Bitch. If these people are getting set loose I will be pissed. I get using them as leverage to end chain migration and the "diversity" lottery but THEY HAVE TO GO BACK

Need to see the requirements for their citizenship first but on the surface I don’t like this one bit.

I could be on board as long as citizenship isn’t granted for, say, 15 years. Of course, if they break any additional laws during that period they are a gone pecan. Also, no voting rights during the 15 year probationary period.

The government has already demonstrated they don’t understand what a trust fund is. That sounds like a bullshite deal for funding the wall.

I’m sure there will be 60 pages of details. I would like to see Mexicans that just want to work here get work permits. Many of them would prefer to live in Mexico.

Any illegal shite and you are gone. Never to get another work permit or entry into the US.

The citizenship plan should have the following adendum:

If the people granted citizenship vote more than 60-40 Dem in next election, the citizenship is revoked

Depending on how that is negotiated, it could be huge for pulling away a good bit of the Latino vote from the Dems, which they are counting on moving forward. I think you go through them each on a case by case basis, if they are productive they get a streamlined path to citizenship. If they aren't, they get sent back from whence they came. Cannot be blanket amnesty because that would be a big frick you to all of the people who worked hard to EARN their citizenship.
