I could get behind that. Especially since my family ARE legal immigrants and my parents waited 10 years in line to get their visa.

I don't mind one way or the other. My big buying points with Trump was border security, tax reform, economy and not letting millions of Muslim migrants invade us each year from places like Syria.

The dreamers can stay as long as they provide proof of employment but they cant vote and cant access entitlements.

Exactly. This will help turn Arizona and Texas blue.

That’s a lot of people. His base won’t like it.

It's always been secure the border then path to citizenship with his base. In that order.

Under Reagan, we gave a path to citizenship with a promise of border security. Border security never came.

Fool me once...

Fund the wall then we can talk about the path to citizenship. I think you will find that this is the position of the majority of the Trump base.

Chess move?

So, conservativewifeymom, why is the Orange Shitgibbon asking Congress for $25 billion for his wall when during the campaign he said over and over again that MEXICO WILL PAY FOR IT.

Chess move?

Schumer and his fellow Democrats have said from the beginning that the wall is a non-starter, with or without protection for the dreamers.

Dems won't go for it if you pull voting rites. Their true colors will show on this matter.

Milestones for them remaining legally should be tied to milestones of the wall completion.

Miss a wall milestone and it's open season again.

Any path to citizenship should be as rigorous as the current law for legal immigrants.

Nope. Democrats and dreamers aren't stupid.

Except for like 5 days ago when Schumer was on TV repeatedly saying he offered the wall to Trump.

Rex, I think Mexico is gonna pay for it via the businesses they are losing coming back to US.
And Trump will reduce the trade deficit.

If the wall is a non-starter for Dems, all Dreamers will be deported. Enjoy!

Answer my question.... why is Trump asking for money for his wall when he said over and over again that MEXICO WILL PAY FOR IT?

Constitutionally the funds have to be appropriated by congress. We don't live in a monarchy.

Mexico will still pay for the wall retroactively if congress would implement some of the ideas to get reimbursed for wall funding. Like a 5% tax on remittances to Mexico. That would easily pay for the wall.

"A path to citizenship...." is not the same as automatic citizenship. It's a workable approach to addressing a long-standing, simmering problem that wasn't going to go away on its own.

The next step is to make sure the "Dreamers" realize it is the Trump administration that helped them become citizens.
