Can’t the same be said of you?

Nothing could convince you that the mission in Iran was a success.

Your mind is completely made up

This is great news.

Who could have predicted this?

I imagine the "you are here" meme is in effect too

The Rangers and the 82nd are shooters ... once they're inserted somebody is gonna get shot.

It always escalates from there. They're hammers, not scalpels.

Let's let this thing play out and judge the result. If we occupy I'll voice my displeasure.
Waiting until we’re already deeply committed to a conflict before forming an opinion on it matters how? By that point the decisions have already been made and the range of options is much smaller. Debate is supposed to happen while choices are still actually open, not after we're locked in no matter what.

I don’t really know. It’s a fair and good question. I guess I would wonder whether one guy pummeling another guy outside the bar is a “fight.” Is that fight?

No

GWOT really fricked up a lot of people's idea of how these units are normally used.

Whether accurate or not, if this is true and plays out as advertised, it's definitely worth getting animated and angry.

No boots on ground. Period. Not outside of the special forces that are probably already putting in work there, anyway.

You post this exact reply over and over.

Boots on the ground in Iran? That's just 'bitching to bitch,' huh?

All options, resources, and timeframes need to be on the table.

The entirety of the regime's leaders will be on a fiery escalator to hell way before they are able to run out the clock.

Why can’t the Israeli’s do it?

I still have zero clue what the administrations play is here. Boots on the ground is the most toxic thing he can do.

ground invasion of Iran is a catastrophically bad decision. That country is decentralized and a geographic fortress. They have been a civilization for thousands of years because of it, at least partly. They have been preparing for 46 years for the USA to do just this. There is no appetite stateside for a long ME war and the bodies that will come into Dover because of it. The numbers are already higher than the six they claim died.

Iran is not Iraq they can and will fight. We had to move our carrier further off the coast to get away from IRGC drones, they shot missiles and stuck an apartment building that had US military personnel. So they had the intelligence and the ability to hit them. Three or four THAAD radar systems got destroyed, and theres like 10 of them total. This is a colossal mistake.

We can and would win the war but it would be a pyrrhic victory.

It was either this or nukes

Absent the quick decapitation with ready made deal with the IRGC what other path is there to a positive regime change.

I really don’t think they even care about setting up a stable government. I mean they’d prefer it if possible, but it’s not that big of a deal to the people driving this.

They just want to cause a civil war to take Iran off the table as a regional power and impact the flow of oil to China if they can.

If the US doesn’t instill a stable government, China will. There are too many oil interests in Iran for China to let it completely collapse
