IMHO it would be a mistake to deploy the 82nd and/or a Ranger Regiment. I hope he doesn't do that unless he absolutely must, not even for AO security purposes.

Why? Those guys pretty much exist to back up SOF guys

I could see them take the island that is responsible for 80% of the oil exports and production.

One of the Kurds leaders was just interviewed on Fox. He days the Iranians have been preparing for this for over 40 years. They are not going to give up. Ever. And there was been no evidence of zn uprising or defections of the regular army.

If we can’t put troops on the ground, worse than Afghanistan) and we can’t bomb them into submission then what?

Declare victory and go home? Which will severely damage Trump and the GOP giving the Dims the midterms and the White House in 28 b

The talking points bat signal is really messed up right now

They can’t figure out if they are supposed to be “for”:

Regime change
Boots on the ground
Illegal war
Rising gas prices
Forever war
No clear plan
China being a big factor
Russia being a big factor

Republicans used to be so much easier for them to figure out and attack.

Outside groups will move in and start attacking those troops.

Trump will send more to control the situation.

Attacks will increase.

Eventually, there would be a decision to make: pull out completely to stop the losses or “temporarily” surge deployments to stop the attacks “once and for all”. We know Trump’s mentality has no room for loser appearances so the surge will happen.

Before we know it, ISIS will be all over Iran fighting alongside Iranian military holdouts and other groups will move in due to the power vacuum.

It’s like we’ve seen this twice in the past 25 years.

We've had boots on the ground all over the ME and other parts of the world.

- My thoughts are we (USA) need to make our money the preferred petro-dollar. Or China's gonna own the world.

Almost like you shouldn’t start shite you have no real plan of finishing. There’s no scenario here where the regime falls without a lot of US boots on the ground.

And even then, you’re probably left with another insurgency once the IRGC and regular army go underground and start a resistance.
