Oh no he might have to charge 12k for 2k worth of work now instead of 10, to make sure he keeps enough in his pocket after paying white labor.

I'm replacing all the corner boards on my duplex, pressure washing the house and garage and painting 2 coats. 1500 worth of materials and will take me about 100 hours labor by myself. The garage section is done and took about 20 so 80 for the big checks out.

Cheapest estimate i got was from some uninsured frick that wanted 14K.

frick contractors. Every last one.

But the tire guys? You bet your arse they do. They are business owners with licenses. So they pay local sales taxes and state income and federal taxes.
have you heard of the trickery reporting labor rate lower than actual pay (part reported while part paid under table) to qualify for govt assistance in all forms that comes in (health care, food, energy bill assistance, schooling college expenses of all kinds ( to compete later with actual usa citizens for schooling and jobs )

He ended up not being able to make it to the meeting because his whole drywall crew got deported, and now he had to temporary hang drywall to fill in. He was singing the blues because he had to hire Americans who wanted to get paid normal wages, and his Guatemalan crew could work straight cash

I and many on this forum had been saying for +20 years if you want to seriously address illegal immigration go after the businesses who knowingly hire illegals.......they're fricking everywhere. Businesses who knowingly and repeatedly employ illegal immigrants should face a hefty fine.

All I know is that the Mexicans that come here and provide services and work, come to work when they are supposed to, and finish the job and provide good quality and do it in less time thatn the locally born. I don't care what it is, construction or tire services. Work their asses off, do a good job and charge a competitive or fair price.
I 100% agree.
I've literally never had a hispanic crew not work hard, and give bang for the buck.

Problems? Yeah, a few times. But I would absolutely hire a hispanic construction, painting, landscape crew, even for similar or slightly higher pay. I'd bet the case is the same in agriculture and other similar jobs.

Why in the world can we not work that out with a work-visa program instead of illegals fighting one another for a spot once they're here? Answer?

The problem is, given our current system, bilingual "bosses" bring in illegals. Underpay them substantially. Abuse the sh*t out of them, and tell them if they don't go along, they'll get turned in to immigration, and 10 other illegals will be fighting to take their spot.

I know it's yet another anecdote, but we had a crew doing exterior painting/renos at the beach a few years back. It was a mixed M/F hispanic crew. They were onsite for quite a while. One day, during a break, I overheard the girls talking about a "boss." One of them started crying, not because of sex he required, but the kind of sex.

They were on a balcony a couple of floors up, and by the time I got up there, they'd already returned to work. I never ID'd specifically who the girl or the "boss" was. But at the end of the project I pulled the girl I suspected aside and confronted her privately. She was incredibly appreciative, but made it clear my intervention would be awful for the girl(s). She assured they could quit at any time of their choosing, and I should stay clear. She refused to confirm it was her I'd heard, or who the "boss" was.

Very sad.

So you were happy to work with someone that employed illegals until it became inconvenient for you

That's not what he said at all, and you know it, and intentional contrarian nonsense like this from you is why nobody ere takes you seriously even though you have some valid criticisms (along with stupid nonsense like this).

I employ about 100 Hispanics on work visas, none illegal, and I’ll say I don’t hire them because they are cheaper. I hire them because they get more done with less complaints and problems.

Arrest them. Fine the hell out of them and take their business license and take any profit they gained for using illegal aliens

That you know of.

That's the thing. Upwards of 70% of illegals have real-looking credentials.

That's why they don't go after businesses.

That's been my experience. Will they work for less. Yes, but not substantially. I'd say the differential between native born "American" vs Mexican / Central Americans is about 10 -15% on wages. The biggest difference is that I have generally gotten zero drama from the hispanics. No "car" issues. No legal issues like getting arrested for stupid stuff. Never hear about their wives or girlfriends being a problem very few times has it ever been a kid problem. My bill came out to be almost dead on to the estimate.....about 5-7% more which is something that we budgeted for.

That’s because a lot of subcontractors don’t do the work themselves and hire it out to the cheapest bidders. Their make money quick schemes have been interrupted
it's incessant in the rural south. these are the jackasses who would've resorted to real estate 20 years ago, who know nothing about construction and act as a middle man to an illegal work crew who, as a whole, is an abomination to the word, "craftsmen."

i know of a couple that are being sued by multiple people for cost overruns. one of the dude's being sued was in the pen for meth distribution 10 years ago. he knows nothing about building a home, let alone bidding construction projects, and the other used to mow grass. they're redneck retards. the "crew" of both of them are made up of south Americans raised in corrugated metal sheds south of the border whose building quality is slightly above 3rd world. they don't know what quality looks like, and there are no inspectors mandated to come in behind them and make light of their garbage work because it's the rural wild west in that regard.

don't let anyone tell you that illegal residential construction workers are a cut above American craftsmen. as a whole, they're not, and I wouldn't dream of having them build my home, shop, etc.

Agree except the quality work part. Built a house 5 years ago and the framers and sheet rock crew did a terrible job. Quality suffers when speed is a priority.
