I have zero issues with them. I just think it's silly to dress up and pretend, then lie on the ground for an hour or so as a dead person.

Italians, Czechs, and other European immigrants picked cotton after The Great Migration as did other poor whites. Blacks act as though they have a monopoly on this activity.

I'm honestly embarrassed for the millions of black Americans who are supporting this fricking nonsense.
I have believed for 30-40 years that a majority of black Americans do not want to move on from the mental chains of slavery. The mental chains of slavery is the most important aspect for black Americans with regards to their place in US history. Not the great contributions black Americans have made to American culture through music, art, food, sports etc. No, let's keep the mental chains of slavery, slavery that ended 160 years ago as the most important cultural bond for black Americans.

I missed making /reading any comments here on the 3rd of June.
I probably have mentioned this before, but grew up on a farm in Northern IL. Was a young teen when this song came out. I figured the songwriter was from California. Of course we didn't grow cotton, but I couldn't imagine harvesting cotton in June, even in the warmer South.
Many years later, I learned that Bobbie Gentry really was from the South, and "choppin' cotton', wasn't harvesting it, it was weeding it. Now it all fits.
Fantastic song, and beautiful, hot, talented lady.

The KA house behind my dorm at LA Tech in the 90s paid black people almost 3x minimum wage to act like they were picking cotton in front of the frat house.
