Great episode. In a lot of ways

Has Billy Bob ever voiced any political opinions? Not in character, but him personally. I would have guessed he was a typical lib but most of them would have refused that monologue and probably demanded counseling after reading it.

Crichton’s State of Fear did this for climate crisis fear porn 20 yrs ago.
The terrorism hasn’t been as overt, it’s just indoctrinated & normalized by the Euro elites.

Stupid arse windmills and solar panels are not the solution. The only way to generate enough power is with nuclear. The government makes it so difficult and years (or decades) in the making.
I am certain that we could build SAFE plants that have multiple failsafes. Get the engineers together with environmentalists and come up with something that works.
And dont build them on the coasts (storms) or earthquake prone areas. Find something that can use the used material or a safe way to store it. Hell put the spent fuel rods on a rocket and launch them into space then send them to the sun.

Only thing I disagree with is I think the real number is we have about 400 years of supply left not 120.
Actually, it may be unlimited. Simple reason: if it ever gets really scarce, the law of supply and demand will drive the price up, and alternatives will become cost effective, so there would always be oil available, at some price, for things that need it.
However, I think we have only seen the tip of the iceberg as far as extraction technology goes. Fracking basically made previously economically unrecoverable oil recoverable. If people like Elon Musk can reduce the cost of space flights by 90%, what could happen in the future with oil extraction?
Coal to liquids? Alternative hydrocarbons such as the methyl hydrates on the deep ocean floor?

There are some similar scenes in Lioness about child trafficking in Season 2. Good show.

That also caught my attention. We may well have even more than 400 years' supply. As a kid, I remembered hearing about "peak oil" in school and how we would run out by the turn of the century. My dad explained to me that this was based on the absurd assumption that the only oil that existed was in the already-known reserves even as exploration continued to find and develop more prospects all the time. In any event, that was great stuff and so refreshing to see something honest about energy.

Just as a side note, whenever someone tries to fear porn you into peak oil just remind them of the strong nuclear force. And yes we have the technology to access the strong nuclear force every day all day. The force between one neutron and one proton is no less than 2248 pounds. Think of that for a second. There is enough energy in one helium atom to lift your car.
We are not running out of energy. The biggest impediment to energy access is the human brain.

Change is coming. Even Yellowstone had to get rid of their liberal ranch owner quickly.

I remember these same conversations from high school science.. back in 1976..fwiw we pretty much knew where the unconventional was.. it was source to our conventional.. to tight to drill.. took an owner of a small independent in woodlands Texas to figure out a way to get it.

LOL at China and India, they are the world’s worst polluters. That should, tell you all you need to know. They are also, the two countries that benefitted the most when manufacturing left the US.
This. I pissed off a liberal niece a few years back when she was on a tear about climate change and how great Greta was. I told her Greta was a useful idiot who was only LARPing care because if she truly gave a damn she would be protesting China as they put out more CO2 than the US and EU combined.
She's never brought up climate change since.

China and India "believe" because they see "global climate change" as a means to extract more money from the Western nations.

If you pay attention to Taylor Sheridan's shows he often takes jabs at liberals and their ideology.

The earth produces hydrocarbons as part of its "metabolic process". We will never run out of natural gas and oil.
