You talking about the violence in the inner cities where so many black men are dying.
How would you stop it?

No it isn't.

Nobody under 80 (i.e. virtually no one still active in society) had anything to do with that either.

African Kings and Warlords were making good cash.

When the British and French governments first started debating on abolishing the slave trade, guess who sent envoys to Paris and London to make official protests?

If you guess African chieftans, you guessed right.

The realm of things Beto 'doesn't know' would require a file cabinet the size of the Grand Canyon.

Does he mean how blacks owned slaves too and poor white workers were less valuable than the slaves? Or how it was Africans who rounded up the slaves to sell and put on a ships?

He is absolutely right

They never tell people the main players behind the Atlantic Slave Trade were Black Africans and Jews.

I don't know how it's possible that I don't know the full story of slavery as told from the left. It's been made into multiple movies and at least one legendary TV mini-series.

The attempt to instill guilt in me for a wrong that I had no involvement in has now lasted decades.

That said... I thought the US was supposed to be moving forward from this terrible time instead of dwelling on the past

If Obama hadn't been a race-baiting POS, he could've done a lot to help people, especially blacks, focus on the opportunity that is open to everybody in 21st century America. Hell, colleges and universities have been beating the bushes for decades now, looking for qualified minority students. Businesses have been doing the same.

But, nope. The anti-American community agitator known as Barack Hussein Obama went in exactly the opposite direction. He race-baited every situation from the Cambridge Police matter to Trayvon Martin to Ferguson to Baltimore, embracing the domestic terrorist organization BLM in the process. Obama stirred up racial animosity so much that we even experienced an epidemic of cop assassinations during his last year in office. 5 assassinated in Dallas, 2 or 3 in Baton Rouge, 2 or so in NYC, etc.

That will be a huge part of Obama's pathetic legacy. Thanks a lot, Barry.

My point is, whites are an important vital fabric of American history...our education system is trying real hard to rewrite history

You could tell the full history about slavery AND whites. It's easy to know both, one doesn't overshadow the other.

And if we're being honest, both wars you mentioned didnt neccesarily grant rights to Blacks by themselves. The Civil War with a Union victory assured freedom but not civil rights. Same goes for WW2. Stating that fact isnt an insult to the soldiers who died or the families. It's the reality of how our political system outside the battlefield has failed its citizenry at many historical times.

Neither do Blacks; there was a LOT of Blacks who OWNED slaves. Hell, Beto may not know that, given his 'protected' educational pedigree.

"White Americans do not know this story."

Beto needs to speak for himself.

We have learned plenty on this issue in our lifetimes.

I have nothing to apologize for since I,or anyone else alive today, had nothing to do with it.

I'm getting weary of this guilt crap. It's past time to move on.

If he is white

And whites don’t understand what it’s like to be black

How can he know if what it’s like to be black is different than what it’s like to be white?

Making this assumption is assuming he understands something about what it’s like to be black.

OK Beto, "the genius", considering all slaves owned in America have died, what we are looking at is the state of the slaves progeny. That is, how are they suffering, compared to their suffering, had not their ancestors were never made slaves in the first place. If they had not been slaves, they would have been left in Africa. If they were fortunate enough not to be captured for the slave market elsewhere, and were livng their idyllic existence in Africa, how would their state of existence in Africa be compared to their state of existence here in the USA today? I would say, aside feeling sorry for their ancestors, they should be highly grateful to be here. I know my Italian ancestors suffered, and I am eternally grateful for their suffering, and good sense to have come here.
