not sure what you meant by this, but not everyone lives on this board 24/7 and knows everything that's been posted.

Sounds like an opportunity for you to create some kind of posting index so everyone will know if a thread has already been started about a given topic.

If the market , efficiency, quality, and need made an electric vehicle desirable then I say go for it. But government dictating this stuff is insane. They’ll subsidize an inferior product and we will continue our race to the bottom.

I drove a Tesla for the last year and loved it. However, I don't think they are ready to take on something more heavy duty like a truck. The quality of materials on the interior leads be to believe that it might not be ready more rugged use. The charging was not an issue unless you want to travel more than three hours. Then is starts to require some planning. I would not prefer to attempt a ten to twelve hour drive. But going around town, never having to stop for gas, simply plugging into the garage each night, and the performance made it quite enjoyable.

I own Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks!
ANd honestly, they have ALL been very dependable...
Dodge prolly the low end, but 40% less price tag.

American trucks are great!

Absolutely! I look forward to a cross country vacation in my government mandated electric vehicle that utilizes an under existing charging network where I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour while my vehicle recharges.

I’d drive the Hummer EV. But only bc it looks to have badass performance. Not bc I think it’s “green.”

This is the current use case and will remain the primary use case for EV's until 1) Charging is much faster than it is today (who wants to stop for an extended period every 3 hours) 2) a national infrastructure is created to provide easily and widely available fast charging stations.

I read an article recently about someone doing a cross country drive in an EV just to check the feasibility. It required a lot of advanced planning and reservations at charging stations. Sometimes they would arrive at a charging station and have to wait an hour before they could even begin recharging because someone else was using it.

Not now, but maybe in years to come? I also have a 4wd truck and use it daily. I drive between offices regularly (in normal years, and those drives are from ATL to Charlotte, Tampa, etc... not in electric range yet.)

Also, we have a farm. Can't really see electric tractors, 2 ton trucks, 1 ton trucks, irrigation pumps, bulldozer, etc.

I'm sure it's all possible, but I'm not gung ho about stopping after a couple hours and chilling at a gas station for 30 minutes. There's a guy on my team that drives his Tesla to Charlotte and has to stop en route.

I'm trying to imagine how an apartment complex with thousands of residents can house charging units for them. Or Disney World, with 50,000 cars on site needing to charge at night. And so on. That's a lot of chargers.

Jesus I don't know why everyone is freaking out about this so much. Just keep your fricking gas burner if you don't like it. Or don't buy a electric GM or Tesla. Does anyone really think they would phase out diesel 1 tons before there was an adequate replacement? No, they are not.

I like gas/ethanol/methanol/nitromethane burners as much or more than anyone, but electric is the future.

I'M NOT!
I love my 4WD truck
Tesla is releasing its "CyberTrucK" late this year.

I actually considered it, but the standard range is just too short for my needs. You can GET an extended range version, but the cost increases ... dramatically.

I saw a photo the other day of a roadside EV charging station.

The charging station was diesel powered. I got a chuckle out of that.

I think most people would be more than happy with this outcome but seriously doubt it’s plausibility in the near future.

I would love an electric truck.

Less maintenance.
The motor would last 5 times longer than an ICE engine.
Electricity is cheaper than gas.
Faster.
More power.

BUT...
Not until I can drive 8 hours on a single charge.
AND
The cost of the batteries goes down.

When I was in like 5th grade, I was really into cars and wanted to be a car designer for a living. I couldn't draw worth a shite and all my vehicles came out looking exactly like the Cyber Truck. So thanks to Elon for making my 5th grade designs a reality.

I can understand that, depends on how the vehicle is used:

How do you think they will perform in 3 feet of mud and water? Seriuosly, will a big battery and electric motor survive in South Louisiana? I have not heard anyone comment on this.....curious.

I might be the ultimate cynic, but the hard push for all-electric vehicles within a decade or two seems more likely to be rooted in a desire for government to be able to assume total monitoring and control of people's vehicular movements than anything having to do with the environment.

No more high speed police chases. No more worrying about someone driving onto government property. Total control of who can drive to a protest or event. It's a police state wet dream.
