The only reason I'd own an electric vehicle is for the enjoyment. I've driven a Tesla Model 3 Performance. That SOB hauls arse. 0-60 in 2.8 sec

many vacation destinations do have great experience with electric vehicles which are just gussied up golf carts. the coastal town of Port Aransas likely has twice as many golf carts as boats. Many towns will register then to drive on intown roads as any other vehicles.

I think that before I pulled into a random station in a town I know nothing about to do a 5 minute swap out of a 12000 dollar battery for an unknown battery that may have been misused .....I might question risk of getting screwed

Are electric motors an efficient method of converting power?

I have yet to see how electric vehicles are cleaner and more efficient than gas vehicles.

Electricity doesn't come from lightning bolts. Nor does it come from walking on the carpet in your socks.

Yes electric motor a much more efficient.

I dont want an electric vehicle because it is cleaner.

I want a vehicle that will last fore decades and be cheaper to drive.

Hopefully we get there someday because it is preferred by the customer because it ends up being better. Currently it is not better than ICE due to the battery. Fingers crossed.

No idle is more efficient.
But that is it right now. A vehicle is more efficient while driving on gas.
Stop and go traffic, it might reverse.

You seem mad about this. The good news for you is that a used internal combustion truck is going to drop in value like a rock here over the next few years. You can upgrade for $10,000 to the former $70k truck in no time.

I just went through this. My Ram Rebel with 143,000 miles on it was worth $15,000. It had a $50k sticker on it.

I once owned a Rambler 440 with a 290 V8. Sassy little car. Regretted big time when American Motors tanked.

Sigh! No doubt the tree huggers will eventually do away with fossil-fueled vehicles. For everyone except the elites.

GM announced they will NOT be manufacturing fossil fuel vehicles starting 2035....ALL electric!!!

Yep, GM just lining up at the government feed trough per Biden. That goal will not be achieved unless there is a major breakthrough in battery technology.
Good example: most of interstate commerce transportation is by big rig trucks carrying heavy loads. It will be a long time before any non-fossil fuel technology reaches a level to replace diesel engines.

No, I am not mad, I just deal in facts.

No fricking way everybody will be able to afford one of these things but that doesn't matter because the government will spend massive amounts of money to subsidize them.

You are talking about a small slice of the overall market NOW and comflating it with EVERYBODY being FORCED to buy one of these things.

I don't care, be stupid about it. Let the fricking government decide what you drive

Okay, man. Thanks for summarizing my entire point in this thread; “let the government decide what you drive.” (SARCASM)

I had my last cell phone for 12 years and only replaced it because my carrier starting jan 1st upgraded everything and it would o longer work.

Stop buying phones designed to break or phones designed to not be repairable (apple).

Get what is known as a rugged phone. Drop it on purpose, use it under water, it doesn't care.

But hopefully these new solid state batteries will help out with cost, weight, size and longevity.

If solid state battery tech gets ramped up and takes over that issue goes away. There are already solid state batteries being manufactured, just not yet for cars.
