As to your second point, rechargeable batteries most-definitely CAN (and should) be recycled rather than landfilled. We would just need to establish the habit of doing so, rather than tossing them into the environment.

Not everything within those batteries is recyclable, which means the disposal of the remaining waste may take specialized disposal.

And it's like any battery powered anything, the more stuff you use like A/C or Heater etc also will decrease range.

im not opposed to it if they can deliver the mileage and have the infrastructure to do so. Thats where i have doubts

Honestly? Not because I'm a climate fanatic, but I'm thinking of buying an electric car. My range of travel is about 10 miles. I thought it would be neat to have a little electric car to putter around town in, and not have to deal with gas stations. I'll still have my regular car for long distance travel.
Options are between a 2013 Mitsubishi i-miev and a 2015 Nissan Leaf.

Electric cars right now are like 8k TVs, yeah you can stream 8k content but what is mass brocasted across the spectrum, no higher than 1080. What makes them think that they can install the infastructure to support this, and dont you think with technology developing as fast as it does the won't be a better option by 2050?

Yall know it's ok to be a Republican and care about the environment. Lol,I know its not something were supposed to care about as Republicans, but if you like to fish and hunt,then you should want those places to be in the best shape possible for our future generations.
The crazy thing is ,dems couldn't care less about fishing and hunting but they want to go overboard on protecting the environment. It goes back to priorities. They would rather people lose jobs then keeping that pipeline open

For your case, go for it....
And this will be the case for many people. There also will be many others, like myself, that it will never work!

Well for one when stupid people (not you with the general idea comment) try to drive through three feet of water your truck won't float away.
I don't drive atv territory in my 2wd truck. I can get stuck on wet grass. lol
For hunting I drive on a well packed gravel then dirt road and a tiny bit of field. Other than that I an on pavement.
For me range is key. I drive two hours to my hunting property (100 miles). No electricity. Then 100 miles back.
So I need that and a cushion of 100 miles because the although 50 would be enough you never know when a detour will stretch that or a not quite fully charged battery or a older degraded battery gives you a milage hit.
Battery longevity is also and issue currently. Get the pun.
But hopefully these new solid state batteries will help out with cost, weight, size and longevity.

I am all for electric, in my line of work I have seen how electric motors can far outlast ICE motors by many orders of magnitude.
But just like the Chevy Volt, I would never by the first iteration of one of these vehicles. Unless you have money and view the purchase sort of like a hobby.
