I am all for electric, in my line of work I have seen how electric motors can far outlast ICE motors by many orders of magnitude.

Are electric motors an efficient method of converting power?

I have yet to see how electric vehicles are cleaner and more efficient than gas vehicles.

Electricity doesnt come from lightning bolts. Nor does it come from walking on the carpet in your socks.

And dont tell the green lovers about trains. There is NO CHEAPER way to move stuff than (diesel) trains.

How do the Diesel engines actually move the train?
*hint* by creating electricity and using electric motors to power the train.

How long I got to keep it plugged at night to recharge? How many miles can I drive it before the battery runs out? How much for a basic (no frills) sadan?

IMPORTANT!! Will I be able to make the 35 mph speed limit in the school zone near home?

Bonus Question.....

In a pinch can my wife hookup her Singer Sewing Machine to the thing?

ENERGY can not be created, nor destroyed (First law of Thermodynamics).

So, the only forms of car-usable energy today are fossil fuel, wind, and solar (nuclear, thermal, and others wont work in cars, not today anyway).

Now, a wind turbine or solar panel on top of your hood aint gonna work either....and you must charge the batteries with energy! The only answer currently is to burn fossil fuel to create the energy for the battery charger....or burn fossil fuel in the BIG arse ENGINE!
This where we are today....

350 CI Fuel Injected V8 is my choice.

So, here’s the thing; the Cybertruck is going to use the new 4680 dry cell tabless battery design. That should give it >500 miles on a single charge, 80% charge in 15 minutes (currently- could improve with new super chargers). It’s the same batteries designed for their semi. Here’s some good and quick info from a Canadian study RCCP.org 6 things to know about Tesla’s new battery

It also uses the battery pack as structure, has a stainless steel exo-skeleton instead of body-on-frame and should retain 80% of its original range for more than 800,000 miles. That’s for the $70k version.

They’re not for everyone but if you haven’t taken the time to see the new (2020) breakthroughs in feasibility and affordability, you should at least check it out. Very interesting stuff.

No, you just have to store it in a usable form. Energy density is unparalleled to date in liquid petroleum fuels. New battery tech makes electricity portable enough to become a reliable energy source. As a Florida Power & Light customer, all of my electricity comes from nuke and solar from FPL.

Personally I would but I wouldn’t pay 50g for a starting model. They should get the prices way way down and allow time for people to shift before a full out assault on fossil fuels.

until such time as I can go to auto trader, car max, or car fax and find a used one with 100,000 miles on the odometer, I will not be interested in the ev.

I love my 4WD truck.....very dependable, 20+ MPG, SAFE, comfortable, and great resale value! Over 100K miles and ZERO repairs needed! And bought it USED!

Why do you think electric trucks won't be all of these things? IIRC, the Cybertruck has a towing capacity of 14,000 lbs.

People around here buy plenty of them. There is not yet a 1/4-ton battery truck for that price, much less a 1-ton.

So, no, the market for electric is going to stay with soy boys that are happy strapping their couches to the roof or calling a gas-powered delivery service.

Did Tesla ever publish data in range while towing? Until they can go 350-400 miles while pulling 7-10k lbs an electric truck isn’t feasible

at end of life for a gas auto, you drop it in the crusher and let the smelter sort it out.

the electrics require major dis assembly with much labor to remove the battery .

You may have battery stations, where you pull in, some technician slides your battery out, slides a freshly charged one in, and off you go. 5 minutes.

Do you use a computer, or are you still using an old typing machine? (Obviously, you've learned how to navigate the internet, but you get my point.)

So you say you will be able to pull into a charging station, the technician will pull out your 1200 lb.,$10-12000.00 spent battery pack in 2 to 3 minutes, and you will be on your merry way?
