Yes, it is
But what do you expect from a clown that heavily touted that abortion of an education movement known as Common Core? The man is an idiot when its comes to political decision making. You want him no where near the governors mansion!
And youll know his true nature when he doesn't make the run off, if he pulls a Dardene/Angelle and acts all pissy about losing

What do Rispone supporters care about more?
Beating JBE?
or
Rispone beating Abraham?
If this poll Rispone is touting is accurate, GOP has lost a lot of voters to Edwards since Rispone went negative and Rispone supporters don't think that's a problem?

Dear Goodness calm down.
JBE isn’t polling at 51 percent.
Abraham and Rispone were always going to split the R votes. Whoever wins is going to have to win over people who think Vitter was a vindictive hypocrite and wouldn’t vote for him.
Those people are NOT going to be swayed by Dr. Tax Neutral, with a specialty in fine with tax rates where they are. If I’m Rispone I’m making a new commercial and run him saying tax neutral gas tax increase on a loop. I’m still utterly blown away by that, and Abraham can say he loves Jesus all he wants - but he’s not getting Wednesday’s vote unless JBE is my only alternative. I DGAF about his St. Jude salary thing. It truly doesn’t matter.
I’m assuming that Rispone’s gains were at the expense of Abraham, so Rispone makes it into the runoff Instead of Abraham. I don’t think it affected Jbe’s votes either way.
I just do not see Edwards picking up a significant enough portion of whichever R makes it into the runoff to win it again. There aren’t enough people in Louisiana who are that offended about Somebody daring to say that Dr. Abraham may not be as altruistic as he claimed to get people to vote for him for Congress. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but politicians say anything. It’s ok to call him out on it. The “attack” ads simply are not that below the belt, nor were they as harmful to Abraham’s campaign as his shitty debate performance

The only way this happens is if those who were voting for Abraham are turned off by the Rispone ads and just stay home.
The types who would vote for Abraham are probably the same "conservatives" who pulled the lever for JBE due to moral concerns over Vitter.

I'm with you sentrius these ads are handing this to JBE. The north LA folks are petty enough to stay home

Wrong. They are just like me, conservatives than want to see JBE gone and thus they are completely opposed to Rispone's attack ads that may wind up helping JBE stay in office and want no part of it.
If it makes some people uncomfortable when it gets pointed out that Rispone's strategy may backfire, so be it. People need to be made uncomfortable about what's really happening and what's even more possible now.
They made a post last week about this issue, which I thought was very fair and reasonable.
Point has been made. What's the point of continuing this?
We all knew the GOP had to keep their internal issues under wraps. Unfortunetly, it's gotten out in the open now, due to Rispone. But Hayride fanning the flames isn't helping the issue.

Eddie Rispone has kicked Ralph Abraham's arse the last couple of weeks and Ralphy boy has no clue which way is up right now.

If you really believe this, this should make you think twice about supporting the mudlsinging against their boy Ralph if you want JBE gone.
You don’t alienate and piss off the voters you’ll need later.
You may not like them personally but they are still live votes and every one of them counts against a democrat incumbent that is going to be very hard to beat.

It's like the two guys running away from a bear. One says "how are we ever gonna outrun this bear?" The other one says "I don't have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you!"
That is where Rispone is. He has calculated that he can't make the runoff if he doesn't knock Abraham down several points and sees it as a matter of survival.
We will see how it plays out.

Nailed it. You and me have been pretty in sync on this race since the debate.

Dude you need to give the hayride a break. It is getting hard to remember if I am reading a Sentrius post or a hayride article. I would say that McKay would get upset with you for taking away page hits from him by posting the entire articles, but being that he is buddies with one of the guys running Abraham's campaign (and you seem like an Abraham shill) he probably won't mind.
I'm genuinely surprised you like the hayride, seeing how you hate the whole "divide the party" crap that it pulls too.
Not true. Try to remember that something is not false or "bullshite" just because you don't like to hear it. Plus, for a "news source" that likes to call people out for twisting things, damn does that article take some licensing.
That's great, but the assumption is that until told something differently by Abraham, he would continue to do the same. Yet he didn't and didn't acknowledge it until called out on it. Very "politician" of him.
Right, however the clinic is now in his wife's name so he is still receiving the income, just not in his name. Same with the pharmacies and farm.
Don't get it twisted. Maybe you are too blinded by your Abraham loyalty, because you don't come off as too dumb to comprehend.
The response you quote (same response that the Abraham camp provided) is political talk at its finest. It for one moves the accusation away, of course no one thinks the money was "St. Jude's money". That is stupid. The accusation is that he said he "couldn't afford to give away his salary" like he promised. However, he could afford to buy a new $500k plane. No one cares that he bought the plane, it is the circumstances around it and broken promise that paid for it.
That comment also tries to insinuate that somehow he managed to already own the only plane in the world that appreciated in value or at the bare minimum held its value all together. Therefore he didn't have to spend any money on the new one?
To reiterate, no one is upset that he bought a plane. No one is upset that he took his salary after his first term. People are upset that he didn't tell anyone when running for re-election that he would have to take his pay, that he says he had to because he couldn't afford it otherwise yet bought a replacement plane, and when asked about it, the answer is nothing but spin and deflection. The guy learned how to be a politician in record time.
Again, this article is doing the exact same things that it is complaining about. And you are just giving it more audience. Mad about "lies and deflections", uses them to argue against the "others". Upset one rep is "attacking" the other, but refuses to call "their guy" out for the same thing. Instead it attacks the other.
One of the main reasons I am so firmly behind Rispone now, is because of all the crap you and publications like the hayride have spewed to protect "their guy". Coupled with the Democrat-isk tendencies of Abraham supporters on this board. The Rispone supporters tend to not rely on name calling and personal attacks like the Abraham supporters.
The other reason is that I watched the debate. Abraham came off as a pandering politician with no real ideas or vision. I tried to warn you of that prior to the debate. Everywhere I have seen him he has been uninspiring. The guy literally said he would cut taxes, is tax neutral, and would approve a tax increase all at the same debate. He also insinuated that he is pro-life, in the way that the rapist should have a say in the abortion of his rape child... Yet Abraham supporters think he won?

Abraham pledged to donate his congressional salary to charity and did, for his first term – some $300,000 worth.

But Congressional rules barred him from making a profit on his medical clinic, which meant he wouldn’t have any money coming in if he continued giving his salary away, so he dropped that pledge.
Right, however the clinic is now in his wife's name so he is still receiving the income, just not in his name. Same with the pharmacies and farm.
quote:
And it gets worse, because the ad also attacks Abraham for buying a half-million dollar plane with St. Jude’s money. Of course, it wasn’t St. Jude’s money, it was Abraham’s money, and the half-million dollar plane he bought replaced another plane he’d owned since 2013.
So we’re attacking somebody for buying a plane with his own money that he uses to fly people to hospitals to get treatment. That’s the quality of our political discourse now.
Don't get it twisted. Maybe you are too blinded by your Abraham loyalty, because you don't come off as too dumb to comprehend.

No. Rispone has as much right as Abraham to run for Governor. There are two Republicans vying for a runoff spot. The one who gets in has an even chance at winning. Rispone won't get in the runoff unless he gets more votes than Abraham. It's all fair at this point.

Well, I'm sure the Abraham people are thoroughly relieved to hear this, Sentrius.
If Louisiana Republicans want to get their shite together, a prominent Louisiana Republican politico has to take control of the party and learn how to play POLITICS. Unfortunately we don't know how to do it,and you have complete idiots running the party

It's in response to Rispone touting the poll and they would be remiss in their political analysis if they did not point out that GOP has lost voters to JBE since Rispone attacks on Abraham started and what the possible root cause of that is.
JBE has gone up in this poll and is in the MOE of winning the primary if the poll is accurate.
To ignore that wold be a complete disservice and trying to build up an echo chamber that ignores reality.
They're slamming the alarm bells.

At the debate, Abraham came out as a Democrat who wanted more publicly funded health care, and who is basically saying he’s conservative because he’s “a Christian” or somehow socially conservative (the whole “I’m a Doctor so I know there are only two genders Thing).
Yet somehow, there are people on this thread bitching about how we need a business friendly candidate.
What is more business friendly- higher taxes and more welfare, so long as we have the right position on transgenders- OR Lower taxes and spurred economic growth.
So ridiculous.
Rispone all the way. But Abraham only in the runoff

I'm sorry, but I don't buy the premise that republicans who decide, because of a TV ad, that they don't like Abraham will switch parties and vote for Edwards. I've been around here long enough to know how tribal republicans are. They don't suddenly become democratic supporters because someone said something critical of their candidate.
If Edwards is moving up in the polls, it is because undecided or unaffiliated voters are settling in behind him. That is a completely different dynamic than the battle for which republican makes the run off.

I'm going with it not being accurate. Couvillion used to poll for Abraham. Its probably a shot at Abraham for not funneling him some jobs this cycle
Couvillion even said, it might be an outlier. And that he needs to see other polls to verify his accuracy
Posted on 9/23/19 at 4:40 pm to Sentrius
So Rispone is supposed to run, but no try to win because it could "hurt the GOP"? I agree that the attack ads are disingenuous, but if Abraham was as strong a candidate as the Hayride pretends he is, then the Rispone ad would have no effect whatsoever.
The bigger issue is that Abraham looked bad in the debate and he is largely unknown in the more populous southern part of the state. THAT is why the new polling is (if in fact true) is showing he lost some ground. Not from some stupid attack ad that is completely overblown. To compare this to a Vitter scenario is absurd. Vitter wasn't well liked BEFORE ran for Gov. The campaign just increased that vitriol towards Vitter.
