How are they "denying" responsibility when they haven't even spoken to their own driver yet? Sounds like they are still investigating at this point.
I wouldn't be surprised if the idiot other driver has some dumb story that it's not her fault. I've almost been hit several times by people like this. For whatever reason they just take off from a parked position and pull off into the lane of travel without looking. I'm 100% sure if they did hit me like that, their story would be "you came out of nowhere! WHERE DID YOU COME FROM! WHY DID YOU HIT ME!!"

I dunno- bad food? Bad service? If it's fast food, you can't really be surprised if any of it's bad. I try to judge things on the total picture rather than have one pet peeve that sets me off.
One experience I cannot forget, in a restaurant that was unsurprisingly closed several weeks after I went there for lunch: we had been waiting for our food for a very long time. The waitress came by a couple of times to refill our drinks. She came again, and I politely asked if she could tell us when the food would be ready as we'd been waiting. She cut me off and said something like "you know I don't run the kitchen, right?" as if I was being an arse to bring something like that up to her.
What I wanted to say was, "do you wonder why you're miserable in life and working as a waitress in your late 30s? This is why." But that would have been incredibly cruel. Instead I just told her to cancel our order and bring me the check for the drinks, and left.

re: Lane Kiffin Contract Details

Let's see how great a deal we struck on the buyout close after the governor mouthed off about Kelly's and then LSU tried to weasel out of its obligation. Surely we struck a harder bargain as a result:
Oh.
quote:
In a news conference a few days after Kelly was fired, Gov. Jeff Landry criticized high-priced coaching contracts with large buyouts. He suggested more deals should be weighted with performance-based incentives that would reduce the guaranteed cost and lower the price to fire a coach. Landry called Kelly’s lofty buyout a “liability.”
LSU would owe Kiffin 80% of his remaining salary if it fires him without cause, which would be paid out in monthly installments through the remainder of the deal. It does not include any mitigation or offset clause should Kiffin then get another job.
Oh.

OP you've gotten a lot of responses explaining this in detail, so yes. On this one you'll have to admit that even the "Zionists" have a point.
Constantly fomenting terror and attempting revolution everywhere they go. Their inbreeding contributes to another notable problem- their median IQ is probably somewhere around 80, while the rest of the Arab countries' hovers around or just under 100. This is a huge gap that puts them on average not much above retardation. So even if they weren't committing murder and plotting revolution, letting a ton of them into your country is going to just create many generations of people who can only do low-skill labor and live off of benefits.

Schexnayder said someone at his request notified someone from the state that he had the board as he was leaving office. He wouldn’t identify either person.
“I’m not going to go and start blurting out names,” Schexnayder said. “That’s not who I am.”
When I first saw this story I thought that it was dumb to indict him if all they could prove was the board turned up missing, but nobody could prove he took it. But then when you look at this quote from him, it's really odd isn't it. Makes me think he knows a lot more than he's let on.
quote:
“When I turned in the keys, that’s the last I seen it, that’s the last I know,” Schexnayder said Tuesday. “The last I know is the board was in the office when I left.”
Do they still have GED programs in prison? Maybe he can take this experience and make something of himself.

He’s not disputing that it was last seen at his Gonzales office. He’s also saying it was given to him to display at that office, but that has been refuted. It also wasn’t on the list of government property that he had in his office so that means it shouldn’t have even been there.
So: it’s a big arse board - not something that can simply be misplaced. He agrees it was in the office “when he moved out.” He didn’t notify the state that he had the government property at the location. The property manager says nothing was in there and they aren’t in possession of it.
Sounds like a slam-dunk case of "someone should've kept better track of this property" but I'm not quite sure how that leads to "and because of that, we're going to convict you of felony theft and send you to prison!"
Even if you choose the property manager's word over his, all that proves is that it wasn't there when Schexnayder moved out. It doesn't prove Schexnayder is the one who stole it. Or that it was stolen at all, rather than lost, or just thrown in the trash by some idiot.
I'd hope before they charge someone with stealing something valuable they have better evidence than this. And maybe they do. Then again, look at the LSU coach firing fiasco. The state seems determined to do everything in the dumbest way possible.

Imagine America's luck. Europeans stumbled on a fertile land the size of Europe, with giant inland oceans, powerful rivers, multiple coasts with sea access, and no network of established stupid little kingdoms. The enormous continent was lightly inhabited by nomadic savages with little concept of land ownership and they were about 10 to 20 centuries behind in technology.

I never understood the weird criticism of The Eagles. It was one of those things that became cool to do but never made any sense. I’m not saying they’re my favorite band or anything.
You can't argue with success, millions of people love or like them. I'm chiming in to admit to being the oddball. I never liked them as a teenager or young adult, I found them way too slick and calculated. They were technically perfect but left me cold. Again, no judgment- it just wasn't my thing. When I first saw Big Lebowski and he was denouncing the Eagles, it resonated with me as hilarious- finally there were others like me! Another thing I found hilarious about that scene is the black cab driver loved the Eagles so much he kicked the dude out of his cab for disliking them. As far as I can tell the Eagles did not have a very large black following, so that was part of the humor of the scene.
That said I always recognized their talent. And I actually like a lot of their solo stuff, much better than the Eagles ('Boys of Summer' by Henley, and his End of the Innocence album is a pop masterpiece; Walsh was a lot of fun and had great songs; Frey's 'You Belong to the City' is a beautiful song).
Another thing about those guys is if I'm not mistaken they were all from somewhere other than LA and moved there to be studio musicians. They were all people at the very top of their craft, and it showed in the music production values, the perfect singing, the note-perfect playing they did. It's amazing. But songwriting ability and charisma are the real difference makers. As I said, even though the Eagles were not to my personal taste, they had these qualities in droves. Sometimes I do play a few Eagles songs, it's an enjoyable listen that doesn't demand much from you. And there's a stadium concert from the 70s you can see on YouTube that is excellent and sounds just like their records- going back to their fundamental love/hate quality, because that's either a good thing or a bad one.
re: Target employees told to smile if they are within 10 feet of a customer

Two things can be true:
1. Most businesses could benefit from having more employees who make an effort to be nice.
2. Most retail businesses have a high percentage of a-hole customers who, if they interact with employees, are treating them like garbage. It's probably annoying to have some jackass boss telling you that you're ordered to "smile" constantly in that situation.

Nah. By the way I recommend his entire trilogy.
The North African campaign was essential to control of the Mediterranean, and Middle East oil.
Holding that would multiply our air and sea power, helping choke the Germans off. Once you commit to the Africa campaign, everything else followed logically. After we expelled Germany from Africa, we could not just leave our armies sitting there. Nor could we pull them out and have them go to, say, England to wait for a later invasion of France. It would be way too difficult to transport them, and way too risky in that Germany might try to re-invade Africa.
Sicily and Italy had some hellish terrain but it was worth the cost in men and resources. Every division Hitler had to tie down in Italy and southern Europe trying to fend us off was one less he could send to western France to fight the invasion we were soon to launch from Britain, and one less he could throw against the Soviets. In effect it was two for one- one German soldier fighting in southern Europe, meant he needed two more for Russia and France, and he soon began running out of quality troops. His fuel and other material supplies were also in steep decline. Doing it the way we did may have saved 100,000 Allied lives if not more.
If you ever read Rommel's papers, they are full of complaints in North Africa, Italy, and France, about a variety of things but mainly resources. Fuel and materiel and more troops were what he always complained about not being given enough of. Through the early 1940s the Germans were spread dangerously thin, first on two fronts and finally in 1944 a third front.

sounds like he was prior enlisted with a lot of enlisted time before commissioning. Otherwise it's hard to see how he could be an O3 after 18 years and not been forced out long before.
Lots of officers who commission right out of college end up in a very stressful position if they try to make it to 20. You might make Major around 10 years in or so, but after that if you don't get selected for Lt Col, you may get forced out with no pension around 17 or 18 years in. There are ways around it so you can retire as a major but it is by no means guaranteed.

I couldn't agree more. The waste of 8 years of possibility under Landrieu is costing us dearly. He's long gone and we are still paying the price for him letting the city rot. Even with Cantrell's irresponsibility, it wouldn't be nearly as bad as it is if Landrieu had done his job.
And that's before we talk about the city council. They see the finances too. Why weren't they sounding the alarm?
