That's smart. Both of them are incredibly toxic and in competitive races you need to distance yourself from anchors to your campaign. People are pissed about high prices, both at the pump and at the grocery store, and this unjust war.

will you p'tards still rally behind paxton and abandon America's last hope

The solution is simple - vote for Paxton, even though he's an awful candidate, and then immediately lay the groundwork to primary his arse ahead of 2032 with a conservative who doesn't have baggage. Same thing with all of the MAGA RINO's that have been installed as the nominees by Trump and the MAGA establishment - Vivek, Donalds, etc. Hold your nose and vote for them, and then immediately primary their MAGA RINO's arses with conservatives. Get them to defend their MAGA RINO talking points and establishment endorsers and crush them.

Abbott has always been a POS. Maybe POTUS Trump brings Abbotts opponent on for a few minutes of dialogue.

The 26 Senate race in TX is lost and not because Republicans aren't going to vote for paxton; the vast majority of them are, but no independents of any discernible number are going to support paxton they're all behind Talerico. The independent vote in Texas is around 16%

And this is what the autopsy on the Texas Senate race 3-6 months after it's over will say

That cannot be redeemed now face facts
again not what I wanted to happen that's why I warned against paxton being the nominee in the 1st place

I would have preferred Hunt It wasn't the best but it was new blood he waited too long to get in the race because he was trying to be positive And he was too cautious

Or this board is just for fun and Im having it

Or and this is a serious question, very serious, legitimate query

do y'all think you're learning stuff by participating on this board?
this board has been described as an echo chamber, which it is, but it also breeds confirmation bias

which puts the reader at an informational disadvantage.
If everything you consume confirms what you already think, you're not learning

that ignorance by choice

i am not sure it is texas inside baseball that is against paxton. i would say it is more from washington d c. the senate republican power structure (mcconnell et al) don't want paxton on the senate floor. they will ambush conservative teaparty types. even allow a democrat to win. they did it in mississippi in 2014 to teaparty chris mcdaniel and judge roy moore in the alabama special election in 2017.

So, this isn't a serious discussion?

You've made assumptions about what I and others think based on what someone else has posted in this thread. In fact, you've made assumptions about the entire board.

I'm quite aware that Paxton winning isn't a certainty. I don't think him losing is a certainty either unlike you. But, maybe I just don't know.

Don't take this personally, but many people make a statement, latch on to the first bad argument someone gives them, assigns that bad argument to the entire board, and concludes they are superior. It's just another form of very small minded thinking. SFP does it constantly. It's what you are doing here.

I respect you coming here pointing out what you are seeing on the ground. I don't really respect you coming here saying you are loving it and are going to be so happy pointing out you are right. I view the issue as more important than that. But, again, I realize people view life a bit differently than I do.

This board makes echo chambers seem like real centers of objectivity at times.

This obsession with the Texas seat is hilarious and it doesn't come close to anything even close to substantive. Most of the people supporting Paxton could not give you a single substantive reason to support him other than he's not Talarico......and he supports Trump no matter what.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are set to flip seats in NC, Maine, Alaska and probably Iowa and Kansas as well where Marshall is in real trouble because people found out that he's a dick and does not really live there anymore. But they are obsessed with supporting someone who is a step above pond scum in Paxton.

That being said, I am revising my pick in the Texas race. Paxton still wins, but the spread is probably 1.5%. He's a horrible retail candidate.

Who cares? Abbott is basically a Bush-style Republican. He would be there for Cornyn, which should tell people everything they need to know.
