I don’t want Americans fighting and dying in and for Iranians in the hundreds.
But that hasn’t happened in Gaza or Venezuela. And we can support anti Islamist Iranians without paying a high blood price.
The world with diminished socialist/communist and Islamo Terrorism from the defeat of Venezuela, the Iranian mullahs and Islamic Revolutionary Guard, and Hamas in Gaza is a better world for my children and grandchildren. I support that. A conventional toothless Russia and economically weakened China is also good.

We overthrew their democratically elected leader in the 1950's and installed the Shah. What happened in 1979 was a consequence of our meddling. It didn't happen in a vacuum. This is why interventionism is so problematic: unintended consequences are often worse than the problem you're directly dealing with.
