That word I bolded is key. "Our" means you and your spouse.

I'd be willing to bet that 85+ percent of those failing kids have no father figure in the home and a mother who is too young and/or disinterested to teach them anything.

Kids having kids is a recipe for disaster.

I can speak from experience of taking these tests in schools, not in Baltimore but in Louisiana. The way these tests are presented to us is basically like a joke. No one I know tries on them and half of the room just sleeps when they take them. They give them to us right before finals, tell us they don’t affect our grade, but then tell us we are required to take them. When something is introduced like that the effort level will always be low.

Think it's any different a couple years later? Well I guess we know it can't possibly be worse

These are basic everyday skills, no effort should be required. It should come as natural as breathing.

Unless you take pride in yourself. I would get upset with myself when I missed questions that I should have known. Depending on the class and test, I would be disappointed if I even missed a single question. I knew what I was capable of and was not happy if I underperformed, for the most part.

My parents expected As from me, but I expected even more from myself.

Is there not a single person in these 6 schools that takes pride in their own work?

I honestly don't even really have an idea of how to fix it.I

The only way to fix it is to allow it to die out. This is the way evolution works = unsustainable mutants go extinct. Sad, perhaps, but otherwise we'd be overrun with blogs of protoplasm that had nothing but a mouth and an a-hole that we'd be somehow obligated to keep alive and deal with their messes.

There was a time when unsustainably 'cultures' would be shunned. They would be required to fix themselves, starve in place, or be overrun and exterminated by people who had a better idea of how to use the land they occupied.

This is the way the world is supposed to work - it is what eventually allowed Western Civilization to take hold and spread across the rest of the world = because it WORKED to elevate the lives and property of ALL.

quote:

literally just handing all of them $1000000 that would actually solve the problem.

Worst possible idea - it would merely instantiate that culture as a 'viable' way to live and only create more widespread misery, crime, and deterioration of humanity.

I need someone to explain something to me.

What can these kids do? Can someone explain how they are employable for anything?

What employer, doing whatever, legal or illegal, would hire one of these kids to do anything?

Frankly if I were a drug guy I wouldn't even trust them to sell crack. If it weren't for the real world street level politics, I'd use Mexicans.

It should be reiterated: Baltimore is a shithole run by Democrats for generations.

Black students. Black teachers. Black school boards, black mayors, black representatives. The results are from 2016 at the end of 8 years of a black president.

This is Trump and white people's fault.

Would have felt the same. I think we both were raised to avoid victimhood and work towards self reliance. My Dad's rule: anything worth doing is worth doing right. Mom's: do onto others as you would have them do unto you.

But they do, the IQ's are tested and they are really f'ing stupid.

Exactly, that is how genetics works.

Stupid people make stupid choices, and their is also a violence gene.

They aren’t interested in being proficient in math or science.

For good reason they can't grasp it, to suggest a 70 or 75 IQ person can grasp enough math or science to have a STEM career is stupid.

Math isn’t going to stop them or someone they know from being killed

A bit of statistics could help them make choices more wisely,

Believe what you choose, but evidence even if politically incorrect is there, the teachers cheat because the scholars are stupid, violent and indolent. Years of Head Start hasn't accomplished diddly squat, they can't function in a technological society.
