Just like abortion, gay marriage, illegal drugs, etc, this should be a states rights issue. That way small business could move to states that don't have the mentally handicapped making their policies.

If increased labor cost kills a small business, then that business either has no pricing power or is struggling already, very likely.

Having “no pricing power” is very different from “struggling.” There’s whole market segments that have no pricing power. Which brings me back to my point. The increase in minimum wage will choose winners and losers. And destroy market segments.

If that were true, then we should just make minimum wage $10,000/hour, right?

Aren’t these the people always complaining about gatekeeping? Now they’re going to be the gatekeepers of opening a business.

In the DMV, you can't get an actual functioning human to work at a brewery or similar for under $15/hour. People won't apply since the cost of living is very high and it's not worth getting out of bed to do the work.

This is also why going out in DC in not that much cheaper than NYC.

SOME companies need to be force to pay at least 15$ hour minimum wage ... not EVERY company of course... I work in the construction business... some of these assholes paying 10$ a hour to people doing important shite.. that you might not deem important... but I’ve seen million dollar homes and commercial businesses built like shite because the employer won’t invest in good employees.

Well, whatever they are doing must be good enough because if it was so bad, word would get out from homeowners who used those companies, people would stop using those companies and they would go out of business. Also, most likely there is someone being paid at least $15 an hour to supervise those jobs, but apparently the magic $15+ has not solved the problem if true.

I'm sure there are places that try to hire illegals for cheap labor to do stuff like that, but as a buyer, if you use a company which has no reputation (or a bad one) for something so important, then you can only really blame yourself.

How about this: We just appoint you God-in-Chief and you can tell everyone how to run their affairs, down to what they can buy to eat for breakfast?

And the market can rectify shoddy construction, lol.

No need to raise minimum wage to fix that. The same incompetent people will still be doing the jobs, and the house will cost more.

that’s not how it works

Let’s say you paid the Saints $100 a game. They’d probably suck and would never win.

Then you pay them a million. They’d look like a football team now, maybe win a game or two, but they’d probably still suck

Now you pay them what they’re making now, I think we can all agree they don’t suck

If jobs paid more, more competent people would do them

LOL, okay. Sure.

Your example so grossly out of proportion that it fails.

Adapting your football example to minimum wage, you'd have to argue that you're going to pay people $1,000 an hour to install shitters.

That's exactly how it is going to work. Just because minimum wage goes up doesn't mean those same people are going to all of a sudden become more educated and work harder. You think there are " competent people" just waiting to run McDonald's drive thru because they pay $15/hr now? The minimum wage employees buying power will not increase due to $15/hr as instead of 40 hours they are now getting 28. That $1.25 loaf of bread just became $3.25.
Your hard work and value to the company should dictate your hourly wage not some politican that's never held a real job.

I think the people who run it are pretty competent

808Bass, it is obvious that JudgeHolden likely has a Woman Studies Degree and can’t comprehend the most basic economic principles.

So which was is it? Going to $15/hr will bring competent people or they are already competent...at McD...at drive thru

Everyone that I know that has worked hard and bettered themselves thru EARNING better pay jobs are ALL getting over 40 hours.

Leftists believe owning a business is something "rich people" do. Rich people go out and buy themselves a business with their money and then start oppressing people.

Commies aren't people and I don't think they should be treated like people.
