To the poster who loves ULM, how is it early October?
Probably the best time of year to catch fish. Redfish bite picks back up. Obviously not the best time to chase big trout but weather and fish catching overall trump big trout at that time.

There is something about sitting on a river with a tight line...
Yep. I find just sitting by the river's edge and watching the ship traffic come and go or watching a paddle wheeler full of tourists floating by as the calliope music is being played is pretty relaxing.
I do aim for catching the larger cats with good size perch on circle hooks, and they are a blast to hook and bring in.
One time I needed some catfish for a gathering and hooked 4-----2 flatheads and 2 blue cats that weighed a combined 85 lbs. with the flatheads being the largest of the lot.
I had to make 2 trips to get all my gear and the fish to my truck to head home------but it was worth it.

Kayak fishing down a river filled with spots, guads or smallies.
The Blue, Glover, Llano, Cahaba - they all have their moments. Nothing quite like 3lb+ river bass going nuclear on topwater.

Somewhere I fish often:
E Biloxi Marsh and Chandeleur Chain
Trout early AM, Redfish after and then Tripletail on the way in.
Somewhere I only get to go occasionally:
Costa Rica - Roosters & Sails

Went out on Capt Yuri's boat (Jean Marie?). Been a while, though.

Love sight casting for lemon fish around buoys in the Gulfport ship channel. Haven't done it in years though.
