Good, if this is the natural devolution of big box stores back to local stores I’m all for it. PIss on Walmart, bet they won’t stop selling beer and cigarettes, which kill thousands more people every year than anything else they sell.

Where are y’all getting ammo from? I’ve always gotten mine from Walmart. After buying online, wouldn’t you be at the same price as if you bought in store?

just to be clear, you are equating beer/cigarettes (self destruction) vs. guns/ammo (can be used to hurt others)?

I’m more concerned about being injured by a drunk driver than getting shot.

A quick search shows that about 40,000 people die every year from 2nd hand smoke (innocent victims).

I didn’t even bother to look for alcohol related deaths from car crashes (innocent victims).

Shooting deaths from all rifles are less than 1,000.

Walmart still sells beer and cigarettes.

I don’t have a problem with WM not selling ammo because I’ll continue to get it online or at my lgs.

Just talked with our regional Walmart sales manager. Gave me a little more clarification. They will still carry .223 in small quantity (20rd box) hunting grain as well as 7.62, .308, 300blkout, 6.5 Grendel and so forth. Basically will no longer carry cheap manufacturers (tull-ammo) and large quantities (above 20rd per box) of any of those calibers. Also there is more discussion and more to come on how to move forward with.22 bullets. Possibly no more bricks and buckets cap sale at a single 50rd box per customer situation.

Walmart destroyed small town stores that used to sell the ammo.

Academy and online. Academy is a little more expensive than walmart, but I will pay that to not go into walmart.

Their ammo is cheaper than most places so I do buy there when convenient. I don’t open carry so that is no biggie. However, I hardly shop at a Walmarts......

You make a good point, but for many folks (like myself) there is no such thing anymore as a "local store." In my case, there is no other store in town selling ammo. I'll have to drive 30 miles into AR to the nearest Atwoods or 55 miles to S'port/Bossier. The fact the WM will no longer sell ammo will be an inconvenience and will result in me buying more ammo online (watch for the "free shipping if you buy more than $50 that Midway offers a couple times a month). Believe me, I was already NOT a fan of WM and this doesn't help that at all.

I've hand loaded my ammo for many years so that the only ammo I bought at WM was handgun ammo and 22LR. I've not seen the actual press release so I don't know the answer: Is WM also going to stop selling 22LR ammo? After all, the 22LR is also a "short-barrel rifle ammunition...that can be used on assault-style weapons..."

For handgun? No.

if you buy bulk (a case of 1000), targetsportsUSA always ships free.
SGAmmo will not be free, but often prices a bit lower than targetsports, so per case it's about even. They have just about every brand and option you could ask for. You can catch deals on Fiocchi and S&B, where it's well under $200 a case, and the ammo is superior to WWB. Hell, for FMJ I'd put those 2 brands at the top for quality.

Brownells often runs deals offering discounts and free shipping.

Ammoboard has limited selections, but ships free.

They must not be making a ton of money off of these items. I actually wasn't aware that Walmart still sold guns and ammo.

Well, how can you sell guns and ammo when there's never anyone to man the sporting goods department? Every WalMart I've ever been in, there's usually no employee in that area. They avoid it like the plague, it's too much like work I guess.

My local Walmart just got in a shitload of .223 and 5.56. The Federal 100 round 55gr went up $5 though.

Just a heads up guys... There's one can left of zqi .556 behind the counter in donaldsonville.

And 5 cans of 9mm.

The only things I buy from walmart are things they are losing on. And they are definitely losing their asses on those cans
