Most of the idiots I see running around look like they’re fresh out of high school, but I’m sure the stupidity spans all ages.

Seems like some type of leasing or lottery system would at least help a little bit

the parish thought the permit process would have helped, it did not.

they toyed with banning air cooled engines in the past that may be back on the table.

a lot of people are pushing for leases. If they don't do something it will suffer the same fate as catahoula and wax.

My dad grew up in Buras then Lake Park after camille… he was in Plaquemines Hunting club for decades and then I grew up hunting back there in that club too… we ran dogs. Shot a bunch of NICE deer back there. Too much traffic and pressure these days so we’ve been hunting elsewhere

There is no repercussions for bad behavior in this country anymore. We need MORE police and wardens!

I mean is a decoy really worth taking a guys life over? I mean good lord, as bad as him doing what he did is, the people saying they would’ve tried to shoot him dead is way worse lol.

While I agree that shooting the guy in retaliation for shooting a decoy is over the top, my concern is where will the guy point that gun next. I could easily see someone seeing the gun pulled out, deciding there are imminent danger, and returning fire. Particularly if the decoys are directly between the idiot in the boat and the blind so the idiot is point the gun in the direction of the blind.

Recipe for disaster all the way around.

at this time hunting guides in La are not regulated.

Louisiana has really messed up with this. So many bad guide services across the state these days that it is tarnishing the good guys.

You should register as a guide - if you are convicted of a crime then you lose your guide privileges for 2 calendar years. Strike 2 is 5 years. Strike 3 is life.

His last shot the decoy is absolutely between the shooter and the blind. I’d be very surprised if one if not all of them had their guns ready to return fire. I’d say a decent percent of blinds with 3-4 guys one of them shoots back at him, 25% or more chance. The shooter is pretty fricking lucky he didn’t get shot imo.

I’m not one to get look for a reason to be violent, but someone unloading a gun 25 yards away onto my equipment would have my trigger finger pretty damn itchy.

Can you be a guide without a fishing or hunting license? Maybe they’d only take away his hunting for this? He absolutely should have his hunting rights taken away but maybe he didn’t technically break any game laws?

I can’t imagine being a fishing guide without the ability to have a fishing license?

If you watch the video you can see this clearly isn’t the cases at all

The guide is a loser and needs to get smoked by the law, but his back is turned to the kids as he pulls the pistol aimed straight down and shoots as he is riding away.

In saying that, I wouldn’t feel bad for him if he got shot. Dude is an a-hole and idiot. But to be clear, they would have been shooting him out of anger, not fear

Did we watch the same video? The video I saw he pulls up to the decoy and it sounds like he shoots once as he is pulling up, then he passes it and turns around, shoots multiple times at the decoy away from the blind, turns around again and shoots one final time facing the blind.

The last shot towards the blind could easily have been a justification for shooting back IMO. Guy that just unloads then points the gun toward you? Frick that.

I honestly have no clue what video you watch. He never points the guns towards the kids at all

Not a single person that saw the video in the thread from the other day agrees with your take either. If you want to shoot him if you are in this situation, go ahead. I won’t cry for the guy at all. But you wouldn’t be shooting out of fear for your life

Yup. I think some people just want to get away with legally murdering someone, and are trying to justify it.

Agreed. Truth is if I was on the jury not sure what I would do. In my heart I should say guilty because I don’t think they would be in fear, but my brain would be saying frick that idiot let these people go

You understand what the word ‘towards’ means right? As in, the general direction of.

Are you saying you are comfortable with someone shooting a pistol in that manner towards you? I certainly am not, especially on a small moving boat.

I never said he points it at the kids. There’s a difference. But that difference takes a split second. It’s also difficult to tell which way the blind is facing from the video in relation to the shooter. If the video is the far left guy in the blind then it’s even worse.
