Can't seem to make up my mind between the two. Chevy is significantly cheaper, and gets better mpg's. Ramboxes are rally nice, and the interior is incredible.

Anybody willing to share some thoughts with me on the two? Thank for any input.

I have a '19 GMC Sierra SLT and love it. I couldn't bring myself to buy a Ram and I much prefer the GMCs to the Chevys FWIW

I have a 2020 Sierra SLT with the Premium Plus package. I looked at the Ram. The interior on the RAM is much nicer. I had a buddy that has been a Ram guy for 20 years and told me not to buy. The last 2 trucks he has owned had tranny issues. He said the reason the RAM is so nice on the inside is so your wait on the side of the road for a wrecker won't seem so bad.

Happy with my 2020 GMC 5.3. Has plenty of power for what I need. I use it to pull a 20Ft trailer with 50HP Kubota and implements.

FYI if you get a GM get the 10 speed transmission.

Have a Ram (not rebel but 4wd w/ offroad) and couldn't be more pleased. GM trucks lost me with the crappy interior refresh. Not gonna pay that much for a truck w/ same interior as my old truck. Mileage is so/so on the Ram, but i have the lower gearing option for higher towing capacity. With the higher gears it's comparable to the GM I believe. For reference, i get about 14 in city. Was getting 15 with prior Sierra and on a Tahoe. Highway mileage is biggest difference, 17 vs about 19/20.

The current Rams aren’t using FCA trannys, the are using ZF transmissions now. I’m not sure when that changed.
If you go Ram I would stick to the hemi gas engine. The turbo Diesel engine is a new design and the last one had lots of problems.

I have a 2019 Ram Off Road Laramie and could not be happier. Looked at the chevy's and drove one for a few days, but the rough ride, road noise and interior of the chevy where deal breakers. For me it came down to Ford or Ram and I went with the Ram with no regrets after 1.5 years and 20k miles.

I am in love with my ram boxes for hunting gear and tool storage so that is where i would steer you. As soon as i am able, i want to get a rebel with the ram boxes and split tail gate. Having been in both trucks, the ride and interior on the ram is much much better. The ram also has a selectable rear locker which i prefer over the G80 auto locker GM puts in their trucks.

We measured at work and the ram bed with the ram boxes is actually wider than the width between the humps on the F-150. We didn't check it on a new chevy though. I have not missed the small amount of room lost to the boxes. The advantages for storage dry storage of tools, guns, boots, and gear, far outweigh the small loss. I still very comfortably fit everything i used to put in the back of my 6.5' bed with a tool box. I don't know if i could own a truck without them honestly.

A buddy at work has the GMC 1500 At4. It is a beautiful truck and has really nice seats.

Rebel Vs AT4

To add, the talk of Rams being unreliable is hearsay. My last one went 220,000 miles without trouble. Since 2009 when Ram became its own brand they have been one of the most reliable trucks on the road. All full size trucks today are very reliable due to the segments stiff competition. They can't afford to make a shitty truck. In very recent years the Ram is second only to the Toyota tundra in overall reliability. LINK

What you need is the newly announced RAM TRX.

I have a 2020 Trail Boss with the 6.2 and have been very happy so far. My last 2 trucks were rams and both ended up with rain leaking in through gaskets. Not something I wanted to mess with again. I am getting 16 mpg on the 6.2 which is better than expected. Only thing I don’t like is that the rear wheel wells don’t have a liner in them on the trail boss. Not sure why and not huge deal just an annoyance.

I have a 2019 Ram Laramie with the offroad package. Love it. Came from a 2016 F150, which was a great truck also, no complaints with it.

I went and test drove a Chevy Trailboss before I went bought my Ram just to make sure the Ram is what I wanted. The sales guy knew I was coming. I get in the truck and the check engine light is on, so we had to jump in another while the tech looked into it. Boy it rode stiff and tight. Went immediately from it to the Ram and I was sold.

IMHO you cant wrong with any truck these days. They are all really nice. I think the best looking truck right now is a Sierra AT4 but those Rams are really nice. If you going to be pulling with it watch The Truck Guys kn youtube run your model through the Ike Guantlet. Supposedly the toughest tow in North America.

I’d get the Chevy if it has the 6.2L. Otherwise get the Ram.

The 5.3 is the most reliable motor GM has ever produced.

I looked at Rams before I bought my Sierra.

Like previously said, ya can’t go wrong with trucks these days. They’re all going to have issues and it’s really down to preference. I’ve had 4 recalls on my truck and it’s a 2018.

You should give the OP some details for your rating system you got there.

As a current Ram owner and having owned all of those in the past 10 years I am dying of curiousity

For the love of God I have no idea why GM has not made this standard or hell, even optional equipment.
I do not have much to complain about with my 2018 Sierra SLT 4WD; but the stupid G80 limited slip really does piss me off, and I hate it.
Maybe they offer it on the 2020s now? I am unsure.

It also now seems with 2019 & up GM trucks, a 2 speed transfer case (4Hi/4Lo) is not standard equipment for 4X4s. It seems you must now buy an upgraded off-road package like the Z71, or X31 to get this option. Personally I never saw these packages worth the money in terms of added off road features. I guess now maybe they are worth it; maybe this is why they made the change. The AT4 & Trail Boss obviously include the 2 speed transfer case, but those are totally different trucks.
Are other makers like Ford and Ram doing this as well?

I really wanted a Ford when I was shopping. I just could not pass the deal on the Sierra I have now.
I have regretted not even looking or giving Ram a thought when shopping; threads like this only make it worse.

I was in the same situation as you, just a couple months ago. I ended up with the Rebel. At the end of the day I just like the Ram better. I didn't get the Ram Box, I'd rather have the open bed space. I actually liked every detail about the Ram better than the Trail Boss.
