Don’t know the situation, or what exactly happened.

Don’t know if the the old man was trigger happy, or if the young kids were being assholes.

But if you’re in someone else’s blind on a public lake, and they come in to hunt just get out and move on.

Cooler heads prevail, no one is dead, and an old man won’t spend the rest of his life in jail..

supposed the specifics were that the shooter did not brandish weapon first?
Seems highly unlikely he didnt brandish his weapon first consider he shot 3 people.....

Seems he shot 3 people who werent pointing guns at him at all

one could have been pointing at him or more or had guns brandished and said "FU old man we'll SHOOT your arse" boom the other two are either stunned or reaching for guns.. old guy shoots first... lots of ways that could have unfolded. This could turn out to be very much like the westwego case from 20 years ago

Pretty fricking impressive to shoot 3 people with a shotgun if they were in fact the ones that brandished first. Thats all I am saying. Occam's razor would have the old man being the first one to draw

1 vs 3 and all are armed

for the old guy to be able to shoot all 3, I'm going to assume he got the jump on them
some people freeze up when they get shot at or see someone get shot. If they were just expecting him to back down....

Small deer.

shite ton of them.

You can kill as many as you want in the yard and right behind the house as long as you do it quietly and keep me in deer meat.

I hope, for your sake, none of these clowns know where you live. PM me your address.

Is it normal to run accross permanent blinds that someone has built when hunting public property for ducks? I would think there would be an issue with a permanent fixture on public land.

*I admittedly do not hunt ducks all too often.

Yeah I don’t duck hunt on public anymore, why don’t guys use boat blinds more? Obviously permanent blinds are bigger and more comfortable and you can ‘save your spot’. Just feel like if people are burning your blind I’d hunt out of my boat from now on.

These are state owned blinds that are drawn in a lottery once a year.

Any money change hands on this draw?
Imagine there's a ton of asshattery with blinds and next year there will be much change.
Same used to happen in Ar before the state eliminated guides from the state management areas. Reelfoot shouldn't allow guides either.
A guy I took on a few hunts in mid-late 2000s pays good money to get a drawn blind every year from a draw winner.... also seen emails from people offering to sell draws.

reelfoot is a shitshow full of white trash ridge runners inbred flickers, I hope they take away every grandfathered blind away from these hayseeds. No more guided hunts, lottery all the blinds.

I know where that blind is and the guy that owns the permanent blind near by is an a-hole and if the old man that was using his blind it would make sense.

Some people lose their minds over hunting. I have a place over in St Helena that has been in my family for about 60 years. We have a lake that is about 14 acres.

About 2 years ago we had a beaver issue on our lake. SO my dad and I setup some traps. I went over one night right after the first of the year and had a big arse beaver in the trap. I shot him with my 22 magnum pistol. So I load up and get ready to go and about 4 trucks cut me off at the gate leaving my property. Its the local deer hunting locals club. They think I am shooting deer. I told them what I was doing but they didn't buy it. I told them to move their vehicles but they said no and said they were calling green jeans. One of them had their shotgun out. They told me I wasn't leaving until green jeans showed up. I had my 10 yr old son with me. I was so pissed I thought about pulling out my Glock and forcing the situation but decided it wasn't worth it and didn't want to put my son in harms way.

Green jeans showed up. I told him my story and brought him to the trap and showed him my kill.

The next year deer season opened I bought 50 lbs on tannerite. We started blowing it up at 6 am the opening morning. I have a buddy that has a legal full auto Mac 10. We shot probably 500 rounds through it on Sunday morning. I don't know if it fricked up their hunting but I like to think it did.

General rule of thumb in La: on public lakes, yes; on Catahoula Lake, yes; on WMA's NWR's - illegal unless gov-owned/lottery, etc.

Bruh....

One of the stories in the other thread is fisticuffs was had with the old man earlier, and he came back armed. Everything is just a story at this point, but I gotta assume the law believes it to be more than self defense if he's listed as armed and dangerous.

Absolutely ridiculous to shoot someone over a duck. Back in high school we hunted catahoula lake several times a year. One morning we parked the boat in what was basically 4 poles with some raggedy brush around it bc we saw some birds near it the day before and no one was hunting it or near it. About 7:30am 2 guys pull up to us and told us to get the boat out of their blind. I tried to explain to them it was public land and they should have arrived before an hour after daylight. The guy then put a shotgun to my face and says get the frick out my blind. Haven't stepped foot in that lake since.

I'm not a lawyer but it seems as if you could have had charges pressed for them holding you on your own property. Good on you for keeping a cool head. I hope you ruined their hunt

all these Catahoula stories...

my uncles were big guides on Catahoula in the 90s and I have vivid memories of them bragging about burning blinds and sabotaging other hunters hunts

my uncles were and still are complete trash BTW

OK, but I believe that stament is just stupid.
