From DeRidder
Was in Baton Rouge for 5.5 years
Now a nomad
Started going duck hunting with my dad at age 5 and have been hooked and blowing a duck call ever since (hopefully it shows )
We got on a lease for the first time in 1998 when I was still 8. Got my first crack barrel 20 for Christmas the following year and killed my first duck with it age 9. A pintail drake that was flying right to left and can still be seen mounted in my house.
We moved from mamou to holmwood to little chenier to grand chenier to 4 mile square back to holmwood and we now hunt south of lake Arthur.
Browning shotguns
Shimano reels
GMC trucks
RNT duck calls
Riceland speck calls
Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

Why SBS instead of O/U? I've always preferred O/U but I think it's mainly the line of sight that influences my preference.

will be 42 in a week and a half.

Born in Murfreesboro, TN and lived there till I was 7, moved to Florence, AL, and then to Corinth, MS when I in 5th grade.

My dad and my papaw were my biggest influences for hunting and fishing. My dad said I caught my first fish when I was barely old enough to hold a rod. He said he had to grab me to keep me from being pulled in. Killed my first dove when I was around 8 or 9.

My papaw owned a farm and I would spend several weeks every summer with him. When he was working I'd go with him and fish at the farms he worked at (he was in the chicken business) or I'd go to the farm and play if he had to go into the office. He also let me go out and shoot guns and fish in the creek that ran through his farm.

Neither my dad nor papaw were deer hunters, rather they loved bird hunting. My papaw started taking me quail hunting after he retired and there were still a few wild birds around. My dad loved to go dove hunting. It was in high school that I started duck hunting with friends. That is the one thing that really grabbed me and I still love it. I taught my dad and my brother how to hunt them.

My papaw died several years ago and this past year I got to go on my last fishing trip and dove hunt with my dad. My little boy got to go on both and I hope and pray he remembers them. He died on Christmas morning and I miss him terribly.

ETA: live jb a burb of Memphis now. Been in Memphis for 18 years now.

Just always like the old American guns, I have picked up a small collection over the years. Nothing too fancy, but nice old guns...

Pow pow on both sides gone early, the oldman married the Army so wasn't around. Always loved the outdoors and weapons, got my .22 Remington at 9 or 10. When I got too many I decided to start hunting, didn't take to it except for being outdoors. I fish as often as I can now.
NOLA born a raised, still here for the time being.

30, grew up in Mississippi, lived in Mandeville a while, and live in BR now. We didn’t have much money so we hunted public land, but pulled some nice deer out of places like Copiah WMA, Bens Creek WMA, and Pearl River WMA. Killed my first deer (4pt.) at 13 with a bow and thought I was king of the world despite shooting the deer in the hip just below the back . Luckily, the arrow hit a renal artery and bleed like crazy dying about 40 yards from where I shot it.

My dad taught me everything I know (not just about hunting, but life too) and those memories are some of the most cherished I have, especially with his passing about two years ago. Those were the quintessential “good ole days.”

Born in NOLA. Moved up to Concordia Parish at around 8.

Started hunting around 6 in Meadville, Natchez, Roxie, Bude areas.

Started fishing as a little tyke in a family pond

Never hunted with either Pow Pows as they both died when I was young. Dad was more into the beer drinking at the camp so my older cousin taught me most of what i learned as a kid.

Joined the military after college and have lived in some great places. Killed deer in LA, MS, TN, KY, Iowa, Wisconsin and Alabama.

I currently live in Central Alabama, Hoover/Shelby County. I currently hunt on a 1400 acre lease in Pea Ridge, AL. Only a dozen or so in the lease.

Cool story, only been duck hunting twice. First time was with some buddies while I was going to ULM/NLU, went with some dude called the Duck Commander. Never knew he would end up famous.

born, raised and live in nola (actually Jefferson parish now, but the metro area)
Started fishing when I was 4 or 5 with my dad. Camping too. Both grandpas were city boys through and through. My dad taught me how to fish and take care of the outdoors.

I have never hunted once in my life. My dad did, but it was always with some coon arse relatives in Morgan City, usually shining deer in the basin.

I have my own kids I take fishing a little, but need to now that they're getting older. Last time I spent the entire day ducking and yelling "watch out with that hook."

29 born in raised in Gods country Rayville LA . Started hunting with my dad and pow pow when I was 4. Killed my first deer (a 100 pound doe ) when I was 5 . It took about 10 misses before I finally connected on her . Thank goodness I had a great dad and grandad that literally carried me in and out of the woods and had the patience to keep letting me go after all the misses .

We hunted in west Mississippi just outside of port Gibson from the time I was born until I was 25 . Some of my best friends to this day I met at that hunting club at a young age . I currently hunt in Richland and Madison parish now and have been lucky enough to kill my biggest two deer ever in the past two years . (153 10 point and a 144 8 point)

My dad also let me start fishing bass tournaments with him when I was about 7 and I still fish one about every weekend now .

Boat-Triton
