67° calm. Listening to the 18 wheelers on I-20.
Had a couple raindrops walking to the stand.
Pipeline with .270. Reb Jr hunting a stand in the woods with 2 shooting lanes with fresh scrapes. We each saw 4 does yesterday evening but decided we didn’t want to clean deer in the dark.
Today’s a different story. Both on doe patrol.

Got my 5 year old with me on his iPad ready to shoot his first deer with an AR-15 223 or blast some pigs in Angry Birds.
Mosquitoes just woke up. Thermacell time.

Last youth hunt for the oldest boy. Yanahli WMA, Maury county TN. Ground blind because I have to be right next to him, small clearing where I hope various human movements spook them through us, but who knows. 59 degrees, no rain until after midnight, which might rule out trying again tomorrow (for him, I would be out). He has the Bergara 6.5cm.

Area 4 pine thicket with some long lanes. Got a few young bucks on camera. Anything with forks and I’m letting jr blast.

What I assume was a doe just blew at us a bunch, never saw. Hoping she shed enough scent freaking out to attract a dumb buck.

Just had 5 does circle my clearing but never come in range. One came out briefly but super on edge and immediately went back to cover. Feels like they knew something was up.

Reb Jr just killed a big doe. And I had this little yearling walk right up to me but didn’t have the heart to shoot it.
