When my sons were in their early teens, we had two Sevylor kayaks. We floated the Strawberry several times with no major punctures. Duct tape took care of them til we got home. Never hooked one with our lures. Very easy to paddle, and lots of fun.

I still can't figure out if this is a joke. Inflatable boat for fishing sounds horrible.

If I were in an apartment and looking for an inflatable boat to fish in I would look for one of the hybrid style inflatable boats.
They make sailboat dinghy's with hard bottoms and inflatable walls. Here is an example from a very quick google search Zodiac Zoom
The Zodiac's are pretty tough and a new one might be outside of your price range however I am sure you could catch a deal in the used market.
I have seen people fish out of these things all around Florida. They are very durable and if you end up getting a motor (electric or gas) they will absolutely fly.
Good luck to you.

I want one of those fold up Navy SEAL boats. Pull a cord and it self inflates with a 40 horse hanging off the back. Fully fueled and ready to rock. Not sure what I would do afterwards cause the coolest part would be showing your buddies the set up process.

It comes with a rock guard that goes all around it.
Us Louisiana boys don't have much experience with rocks. Lots of experience with rusted underwater debris left over from hurricanes...

Snap Kayak
This looks like it could be stored easily once taken apart.
That's really cool, not what I'm really looking for at this point but cool nonetheless.

I had an inflatable pontoon boat once. Used it twice and gave up. Every time I hooked on to a decent sized fish, it would just pull me all over
Catching a fish so big that it pulls my boat would be a problem I wouldn't mind having (until it pulls me into the biggest sharp stick in the water). I don't expect to be catching a ton of big fish I'm not really worried about it.

Good to hear and welcome to TD! (I see it's your first post).

Thanks. I like the hard bottom that comes with the Zodiac, I'll try looking for a used one.

You should get a Porta-bote
Unfortunately I just sold mine last week.
Wouldn't fit in my CRV and seem quite a bit out of my price range. Just watched a youtube video on how its setup and it is pretty impressive.

Hey Jon,
Sorry to bring up an old topic but I was pondering the whole inflatable boat thing as an economic and easy transportable method of having a fishing vessel. Did you ever give this a shot and if so how did it work out?

I think you would be happier with a kayak.
Look into wall mounts for storage. You can hang it from a wall and it won't take to much space.
I strapped mine down on a car with a strap hooked to the front of the car. Another hooked on the trunk and a third in the center.
They sell rooftop carriers made of a soft foam.

Plus I think it'd just be cool to invite some friends out for some drinks and chilling on the water on a warm day.
Please take a video of this. Sounds miserable.

yeah I am definitely considering the kayak route. My wife is interested in kayaking as well, but not sure if its feasible to strap two to the top of our SUV. Hence the inflatable could work. I just can imagine debris shredding one easily.

I have a Sevylor Hui that I've fished from several times. Only time I've been a little scared that I might puncture it was the time I hooked a pretty big catfish. But most of the paddle time on it has been past the breakers in the gulf and in a pretty deep lake where I was never in anything less than 3ft of water.

Buddy of mine used to take one of these out to the Prop Stop, then deflate it
There is a joke in here somewhere
