What would it be? Home protection purposes

VP9 for me. Grip angle fits me better and better trigger.
I do have a Glock 19x and 19 and I like them both but I like the H&K more.
Oh, please don’t call a magazine a “clip”.

Sig p229 legion in 357 sig is what I bought for that job.
Eta: mine doubles as a carry gun. If I wasnt going to carry it, I'd get a p226 legion SAO

Idk of any revolvers or pistols that use clips of that capacity. 10 in the mauser c69 and highest cap revolvers are around 8. If you mean a magazine and there is no budget, some sort of 2011. Probably a triarc. If budget is under $1000, vp9 or ppq.

Forgive me, edited for satisfaction.
Prefer the 19x or 19? Was just researching the gen 5s

Obviously everyone will have their own opinions. Of all the pistols I own I really like my Springfield XDM 9mm and Baby Desert Eagle .40 (if you somehow run out of ammo you can beat the shite out of someone with it)

A glock 19.
Having said that, bedside gun is a kimber 1911 with a tlr1 on it. 9 rounds will get me to my vepr.
My vepr has two 10 round mags of #4 12 gauge.

Glock is a great tool but if I could only have one it's pretty boring.
I'm thinking P226, VP9 (or the USP since it's Iconic) or CZ75.

Glock 19 MOS. You can add an optic later without getting the slide cut. The Glock is reliable and you can find holsters, accessories, magazines, and parts easily.
It isn't my favorite pistol but it is a great gun.

The pistol that you are comfortable firing and will train with. Too much recoil for your comfort, controls that you don't like, grip angle you don't like, etc., are all things that can keep you from shooting a particular pistol once you buy it. If you don't like firing it, you won't want to go to the range and train with it. These are things you need to evaluate for yourself. Find a weapon you are comfortable with and TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN with it. If you buy a pistol and put a box of ammo through it when you buy it, then put it in a closet and forget about it, don't buy a pistol. Save your money so your heirs will get it. If you're not familiar with the weapon, you will not be able to use it effectively at 3 am when you're half asleep, loaded with adrenaline, and need it to save your life.
Go to a gun range. Many of them have the most common models of handgun available for rental and most of them will be from well-known and reputable manufacturers (Sig, Glock, S&W, CZ, etc.) that make reliable handguns that you can stake your life on. Buy several boxes of ammo, and try out different pistols until you find one that feels right for you. Tell whoever is at the counter that you're new to handguns and are looking for something that fits for you and they'll most likely jump at the chance to help you. At a good range, those people LIVE for guns and know what they're talking about and they'll sit there and talk guns all day with you. They may even waive some of the rental fees if you're trying out six, seven, eight pistols to find one you like. Then, once you've found one that you're comfortable firing and will continue to fire, buy THAT gun. Take a handgun class, and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
None of us assholes can pick the right gun for you. For instance, my hand is a giant bear paw and the pistol I use may have grips that are far too large for you to comfortably handle. On the other hand, the pistol you choose may have all the controls in places that are perfect for how your hand is built, but they're where I just can't quite operate them smoothly and effectively. All we can do is just hope to steer you in the right direction for HOW to find a gun you like so you can find a gun you like.
Good luck and remember: PRACTICE is key.

Obviously a glock 19, relatively cheap, reliable, will last longer than you will.
