140 inch deer? I’m getting a dog. I would also look at my FIL like he smoked crack that morning. I wouldn’t call him an idiot, but I would think it
But my son shot one this year. Ran 50 or so yards and it fell in a creek. Took us an hour to finally spy a little brown patch that looked different. It wa only about two foot deep

The blood-trailing dog guys would be running over each other to come find this deer and post a picture of their dog recovering a 140" buck.

FIL is an idiot
Go on Nose to the Ground Mississippi and get a dig out there. Those guys are happy to drive hours to let their dogs work, and most dogs are amazing, rarely do they have a failed retrieve.

Some people don’ believe in gravity and a round earth!!
If it’s dead or wounded enough to be caught a good dog can do it.
Not familiar with yazoo but 135-140in deer are not everywhere and I would do my best to try to find it.

They usually shrink into the 120s by the time they hit the ground, though.

UPDATE: Was told we had to leave the camp because FIL was ready to go. He’s going back Wednesday by himself so he may find it. As far as my book, The deer is lost fellas. If I find anything I will give an update.

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Is this guy jealous of you shooting a big deer or what?

Your father in law sounds like a piece of work.

Sounds like it. He may even pull out the old “finders keepers “.

That’s walking pretty close to the line of filing for divorce from his daughter.

make sure the blood trail along the way didn't suddenly get significantly heavier; if it did, go to that place, then look on either side;
deer may have backtracked, then jumped as far as it could on either side of the trail;
had one do that to me once;

Deer typically will head back to where they came from.
Check brush piles, down trees and water.

Sounds like FIL didn’t believe in SIL anymore than he believes in dogs. Why were you shooting the 350?
