Shot a 130-140" yesterday at about 9 AM. 200 yds with a .350 Legend. Seems to be a shoulder shot based on my shotkam. Deer jumped and ran into the woods. No blood at site, walk into woods and heavy blood trails until creek. Footstep on side of creek has blood in it so I know he went towards it.

other side of creek has no blood whatsoever. walked it for 4 hours.

ideas on where it could've run or done?

2 ft in some areas and 4-5 in others. Very very soft bottom. You step in youre sinking deep

They don’t always sink and most I have seen hit water were about like this one my daughter killed several years ago. It was a right behind the shoulder shot if I remember right and ran 65 yards and we heard it hit the water and went straight to it.
Is the creek flowing fast? If so and it was floating like this it could have went a good ways down from where you started looking by the time you walked the 200yd to impact and started trailing it?!?

Likely in the creek if you found nothing on the other side. Son shot one a few years ago standing on the bank of a creek. Fell in the creek, you could only faintly see his horns.

He didn't climb a tree. If he's not in the creek and didn't turn to go away from the creek he's across the creek. Keep looking

I had one I shot with bow many years ago.
Crossed the creek and piles of blood everywhere. Never found it.
Chances are it crossed or possible sat in creek. Many animals will lay in water when wounded.

What part about using a dog to find a deer does he not believe?

"I've been hunting for 50 years and never once had to use a dog to find a damn deer." I bet it's a variation of that statement.

Until I joined the Louisiana Blood Tracking group on FB, I had zero clue how many deer were found using dogs. It is pretty remarkable how reliable those dogs are!

You can't find the deer right now so what can it hurt?

I'd bet the house on he's in the water. I've lost count on the # of deer that run to water (ponds/livestock tanks) after being wounded. Dogs will help if there's blood.

Pretty sure there is a Mississippi one too. OP go to Facebook and search for it. I’m sure there’s someone around you.

Big figure 8’s on the other side of creek with as many eyeballs as you can gather up if not using a dog. Good luck and hope you find him.

No offense, but what an ignorant statement.

What doesn't he believe...dogs can't help find the deer or since he's never used one that you shouldn't either?

Your FIL cost you the meat from that animal and I guess he doesn't want you to recover the antlers either.
