Is there anything out there that works to get rid of horseflies?

I’d rather get stung by a yellow jacket than bit by a horsefly. Don’t know why. Something sinister about them.

One got in my SUV tonight. I think my heart stopped the entire time I drove down the road with the windows down. It eventually flew out as I arrived at my destination.

No. 7 shot.

Some of those bastards down in the marsh are downright ginormous.

So we were dealing with this tonight and it ran my buddies wife into the house. My wife opens the door to go see her and a horseflie gets into the house.

Watching my buddy chase a horseflie in his house while I drank beer in his pool was a good time

Nothing ruins a good pool night like those bastards. They are evil

I was riding my mountain bike Saturday near a horse trail and four or five of those little bastards chased me for miles. They get in the draft behind you and can keep up. Bite right through Lycra too.

Not sure if the flys around last island and the saltwater marsh are horse flies or sand flies, but they’ll run you off a trout bite same as gnats in the fall.

The horse flies I have in my barn are slower but
Look the same. I can pick them off of my horses cause they kind of hover and slowly pick spots to bite on my horses.

Those frickers down around Cocodrie/Dularge fly faster and hit quicker than the insects up here.

Repel lemon eucalyptus works. They will hit you but not bite.

Hang a black or dark blue ball in a place where it can swing freely. Cover the top side of it with tanglefoot or similar. This will eliminate your horseflies as well as most other biting flies.

Kit from Amazon.

on boats we used 50/50 pine-sol and water mix and sprayed everything. it keeps them away as they dont like the fresh clean pine smell.

its not perfect to keep them all away but it will help a lot
