Joyriding during deer season is a no brainer.

Tell them to watch out for your food plots and shite. Don't piss off people who know everything about your property

Exactly. I’m sorry but I disagree with anyone that says this is a minor thing. 6 atvs at night without permission during deer season is basically thinking they can do whatever the frick they want. Screw that. They need to be put in place.

You don’t go onto someone else’s property without their permission, period. Or at the absolutely very least a text message letting them know if it’s a regular thing. This isn’t a regular thing.

If a neighbor kid kicks a ball into my backyard I don’t mind at all for them to come get it after knocking on my door or calling me. But I’d like to have sex with my wife with the blinds open without any expectation that some kid is walking around my fenced back yard.

You’ve got to put your foot down somewhere. Obviously don’t go yelling at them pissed off, but I’d make it very clear they:
A. Need permission first to be there every time or at the very least a phone or text letting you know they are there
B. No recreational activities during certain dates because of hunting season

Eta: I’m sorry this pisses me off to no end. You can be good neighbors and still be respectful. If they hunt they know dang well not to be there. I also wouldn’t doubt they decided to tear arse around the OP’s property so they could hunt their own land in the Am. Sure some 4 wheeling isn’t terrible for deer and they do get used to it to a degree. But it sure as hell isnt attracting the deer. They don’t like it and prefer it to not happen.

Simple. Ask them to please not ride the place during hunting season, ahd call you prior to ridng regardless. If they get pissed theyll get over it.

Lots of level headed responses of weighing what they do for you vs what you want today/long term relationship. Tread lightly.

Some responses spoken like someone who cant put themseleces in your shoes.

Think long term here. Also if you dont have poachers now. Great. Maybe they help with that....piss them off and you will definitely not see deer

Life is too short

Be glad it is them and not poachers or something worse.

Maybe they already got the message. I would try and let it be and see if it happens again.

The thing to do is when it happened say, "Well, I was gonna hunt here today, but I can wait till tomorrow, I guess". IE, throw a guilty trip on them. If they have any remorse a conversation will begin and they will say something like "we didn't know you were gonna be hunting today". Then you can add, Well during deer season I come here randomnly, practically anytime. Backwards way of doing it, but would work.

Later, gate up your opening.

If it is something they do year round then it probably doesn't effect the deer too much. I hunt ag land and have seen more giants off tractors and atvs than I ever will from a stand.

With the distance from home and the longevity of the friendship I wouldnt say anything at this time. I might talk to them during the offseason and ask them to avoid certain things during deer season. Sounds like they will listen and have the opportunity to be way more helpful than any disturbance they may cause

you have identified the problem; "de facto caretakers" & "didn’t have explicit permission"

relax francis, put down da phone and go communicate with them, i'm sure dey fine people, otherwise expect the same behavior until you do...

Just say what you said here.

We love y’all, we appreciate y’all, but please don’t ride around the property for fun during deer season. They will get the message, they take care of the land for a reason.

Reading this gives me a weird deja vu.

Do you by any chance refer to your father as pow pow? Do you delineate relatives by ‘blood’ and ‘no blood’? And for the most important question, could I get a recreation of the altercation in MS Paint?

Really should have your father communicate land use policy with the caretakers since he’s the actual landowner.

If you guys get in a disagreement they’ll likely go around you to him, and it’ll just make you angrier.

That explains it. A windows baw would have cracked a bud original and had a come to Jesus meeting that night in a friendly manner.

True and good advice.

Deer arn't going to run to the next parish cause they hear a human. Too many humans around for that. At most, they may lay down for 15 min till they think you are gone, but probably just alter their course a little.
