Our club puts out permanent stands (bow only). I went lookin at climbers today to get better position this year. Summit viper or goliath?

Nope. Terrified of heights and swaying pines. I do have a 15’ ladder stand but not even a fan of that.

I use box blinds and ladders mostly. I also love walk n stalk with a folding chair...but a client that makes them gave me a saddle. I tried it and do not like hanging from ropes at 61 years old. Im giving that thing to my godchilds husband.
I used to like OleMan climbers when I was younger and shot plenty deer from them. Now as an actual ole man I like being closer to the ground.

At 65 and still very capable I prefer ladder stands w bar rests.

Have used the same Lone Wolf two piece climber for almost 20 years.

Climbers are good for mobility of course. If you can see yourself talking yourself out of going climb because it’s extra work, I wouldn’t get one. A ladder with a flip up shooting rest is plenty fine for bow hunting.
I own a few vipers, goliaths do have more room but it will cost you in weight. I add foot rests to all my climbers.

Just depends on the tree size. I would get the Goliath if you won't be toting it around a lot.
I dumped climbers for saddle hunting. I lugged a climber around since the 90's, and I am never going back.

Yes, and it's an ancient API because in all these years, no one has been able to improve upon it.

I use an API 2500 GSLite that I bought in 1998. Replaced the chain covering w plastic tubing and it still works great. New ones are not the same.

Used to use one in my younger years. However, a couple of friends got hurt using them, so I quit using them myself.

I did until my chain broke on the seat while 6' up and fell backwards. Luckily I fell flat on my back.

Whichever climber you choose, you'll kill a lot more deer out of a climber or saddle versus fixed ladder stands.

I use a summit viper. Make sure it's not the SD/steel one, get the aluminum if you go that route. I like being mobile. Depending on the area I hunt, I'll carry it backpack style or just put it on my deer cart if I'm going more than half a mile in and the terrain allows that. I like being able to go 30+ feet up where I can.

I have the Goliath. Haven't used it in years, though (I'm old). It is, by far, the most comfortable stand I've ever sat in. There is not a single time I sat in it that I didn't fall asleep.

Viper if you’re not a big ole boy
I have 2 of them

I’m drink way too much while I hunt to use a climbing stand. Alcohol and climbing stands are a recipe for disaster.

I am 61 and still at times climb. I have both, viper and Goliath. The Goliath is noticeably more comfortable. I have added the wrap around seat for later in the season and it adds some warmth to the sit. I like climbing with a harness . I also find using a climber helps in getting to deer that pattern yearly stands.
