We used drop a lot of PVC and could typically pull a few off. There are some areas on the lake where an incredible amount of trees have been dropped and they seem to produce more. You can sit on top of some of the tree piles for hours and catch fish. Never had that experience with the pvc.

I have tried trees and pvc. The trees were far more productive than the pvc.

I bought a vortex red dot for a Glock and really like it. I had to add a plate so it sits a little high but it’s not a concealed carry gun. I’d go with vortex.
Pen raised birds don’t flush like wild birds. Completely different. I’m not knocking their business, I hope it works out for them. There are no options in Louisiana, would still be fun.
I guess it would be fun for a business retreat but I can’t wrap my head around paying $500 for 4 hours of shooting pin raised birds you have to kick to make fly.

Stone Glacier is so expensive. I know they say it is an investment, but it’s hard for me to wrap my head around spending several thousand dollars to purchase a pack and tent. People in the early 1900s killed the same bulls with much less and they wore denim.

Yep. That’s why he thought he could take the shot.

Fight with a friend

Posted by Taxman2010 on 11/17/25 at 7:23 pm
Had a friend take an 800 yard shot on a mule deer this weekend. He hit it in the hind quarter and was not able to track the deer for an ethical shot. Seems like long shots are prevalent out West but I don’t find them to be ethical. Regardless of one’s skill level, I don’t think an 800 yard shot is reasonable for anyone.

Whitetail deer hunting is so damn weird. These people watch deer for multiple years, name them, then kill them. It’s basically like feeding out a cow and then killing it.

Gaining weight with crossfit

I started CrossFit to lose weight and have a group hold me accountable. I have ended up gaining ten pounds. The workouts leave me starving. My appetite has doubled.

Definitely not from a fight. I agree, likely hit by car.

Mine cracked within 5 months - incredibly poor quality.
If we can get McNeese’s Wade Rouse as president, and he brings his AD - we might be able to get things back on track.

Keeping a bird dog in an apartment

Posted by Taxman2010 on 10/19/25 at 10:15 am
I’m thinking about buying a pointer but I don’t have a backyard. Will the dog be okay in an apartment during the day or should I wait until I have a backyard?

Livescope no doubt.
I know I’m getting old but the amount of sloppy drunk kids I see at games is beginning to be disturbing. I wonder if it would be beneficial to start breathalyzing students at the student gate before entrance. I don’t think they should prosecute them for being drunk, but they should refuse entrance if the student is over a .08. It just seems like the level of intoxication is getting out of control.

The thing that everyone calls me an idiot for bringing up. Regardless of what you want to call it, or why it is happening, the climate is changing. This affects the habitat and the redfish population. Same reason Louisiana duck hunting is not what it used to be, climate change that affects the habitat and the birds migration.

Pogey boats and global warming have had a substantial impact on the population. I’m at the point to where if I’m going to redfish, I might as well go to the Carolina’s.
We typically do really well on Bodcau - don’t need a boat baw. They come in hard on mojos.
