re: Might have to train a poodle to be a retriever - Ppro
I agree about all the qualities you mentioned. I kinda wish I had some of these back in the day. I will start my force fetch as soon as my collar comes in. I don’t use a traditional force that most of the pros use but more of a taught fetch reinforced with the collar. I know the dogs can do this I j...

re: Might have to train a poodle to be a retriever - Ppro
I have said this before my dumbest poodle is smarter than my smartest lab. That said there is more to playing the field trial game. Taking politics out of the equation drive and determination are just as important as brains. I have no idea yet how much drive and determination we have in our poodles....

re: Might have to train a poodle to be a retriever - Ppro
First one up is a 2 year old white male. He is a retrieving maniac. Already started obedience and hold. I have started only a few dogs this old but he is also very smart and is really wanting to work for me. I will probably start a pup out of the next litter and train the more conventional way. If I...

Might have to train a poodle to be a retriever - Ppro
My wife has some outstanding show poodles. Some of these are natural retrievers. She has been trying to get me to train one of these so she can go to the line at some akc hunt test with a poodle. I am about to break down and do it. I need to get a bird boy to throw some pigeons. Kemo are you availab...

Wow the difference between his sophomore film and his junior film is dramatic. Can't wait to see his senior film. Tremendous maturation in that 1 year and runs like a man compared to a boy. Very impressive and hope to see continued maturity. Don't know the level of competition but again wow that jun...

Wow. That is a quick release. Arm strength and quick release sure can make up for other faults. I am excited to see him with a few real games under his belt. If others can’t be excited about this kid screw all of them. ...

Another vote for shellac. It will age nicely and give an antique like look in a few years. You probably don't need that heavy finish like a polyurethane....

re: Deer Processing at home - Ppro
I got a cabelas 1&1/2 horsepower grinder about 5-6 years ago. It is still going strong. It will grind as fast as you can put the meat in. I also got the 40 lb mixer and the tenderizer attachments. I do use the grinder to make sausage and I smoke my sausage also. Walton’s butcher supply on line has e...

re: Labradoodle for duck hunting? - Ppro
Poodles are retrievers and tracking dogs. I have trained or partly trained literally 100 plus labs. The smartest lab has not been as smart as the dumbest poodle. That being said the poodle is a finicky dog that does not like pressure applied wrong. If you mess up training a lab you can fix it the n...
