Yeah if I'm not going far from the truck I'll sometimes use one. Viper is plenty big and comfy if youre not a fat. I like to use a Lone Wolf hand climber for archery, though. No rail on it and it is way more quiet to climb with. Not nearly as comfy, though.

I'm 70 and still climb high all the time. I use 90's API's that I've changed the chains on a few times. I have about 20 of them so I can leave them on trees through the season.
Only thing I don't like about climbing is that early in the season you sweat climbing the tree even if you already have it positioned and don't have to carry it in.

I hunted out of Ol’Man stands for years, killed a lot of deer out of them. Then I put some box stands on my property and got spoiled to them.
This year before it got hot I got out my old stand, climbed a couple of trees and trimmed some limbs.
I’m 75,partly I wanted to see if I could still climb a tree but I also wanted the limbs trimmed.I did fine, better than I expected.
I’m planning on hunting out of it this year some if it’s not too cold.

Panther climbing system
Ultra lite
It’s a climber bottom and a tethered saddle. You just climb your way up and then rappel down

I have an Old Man but haven’t used it in a few years. I’m too old to hang in a saddle.

I totally understand! I’ll be 75 in a couple of weeks.
I don’t climb as high as I used to, and always wear a harness.

I would use one, but ain’t no way I’ll be able to climb down when the dogs jump and go the other way.

Tree walker was always my go to but the old man that ran the place got sick and it shut down. I still have mine that he built for me and it has been a solid climber for the last 15 years.

I also have a Tree Walker. Didn’t suggest it for the reason you have. Good stand, though.

Yes. I am 64 and use my old man climber a lot but also use my portable 15’ ladder stand. When I find a good trail to hunt sometimes it’s hard to find a straight tree to climb. That’s why I like the portable ladder stand. I bought a saddle last year and it’s ok for the first hour but you are basically standing the whole time. And in a saddle you tend to move around too much.

I used to but I've always had a fear of heights and I never really found one that I was very comfortable in.
I had an ol man... very comfortable sit... but it slipped on me about 3 times. After the last time I sold it.
Got a tree lounge next and it's awesome once its on the tree but a pain to lug around and set up.
I honestly don't think I've hunted it in over 10 years. I use a lot of ladder stands and ground blinds now. And of course as I've gotten older it's hard to knock the convenience of a big comfy box stand...... Just harder to kill big deer from them.

Viper is just fine. Goliath is bigger and roomier. I’m 6’2 260 and have killed plenty out of my Viper. Wear a harness.
