Shoot, shovel, and shut up.

Usually utilized when a dumb mistake is made. Not necessarily applicable in this situation where unmitigated stupidity has won the day.

The fact that some people today post their illegal deeds on social media is absolutely mind-boggling.

I hope they have to pay a huge fine.
What a waste.

204" + buck poached on Fort Leonard Wood

A monster buck got poached in Missouri about 2.5 hours west of this incident a few years back.

Listened to that podcast last year. Wild story that turned his life upside down. I don't think he had any previous intentions of illegally killing it but all the stars aligned that day and he just couldn't resist the opportunity. There's no way you are going to get away with killing a buck that size illegally once the photo gets out and people start asking questions.

I was working in Missouri last year about 4 hours away from there and some dude told me about the story, so I investigated it myself. It got a lot of notoriety throughout the Show Me state.

If you kill a deer of that size, you are definitely going to show people

People that post everything on social media are terrible. I see people kill turkeys and they pull out their phone to take a picture for social media before the turkey is done flopping. As if the most important thing to do is send out a picture.

They will get the book thrown at them. I’m not a fan of the second pic where the woman is holding it like a pet for a pic.

Man this reminds me of the lady who shot and skinned a husky and posted it online as her first wolf kill.

Pieces of shite, why wouldn’t you just sit there and admire the beauty of a mountain lion roaming the woods and realize how once in a lifetime that is to see.

Fool just couldn’t resist shooting it for no reason at all other than to brag on Facebook.

I had this conversation with the fine folk at MDWFP after seeing something very, very similar, which was later caught on a trail camera.

I'll spare the messy details, but that will be the last damn conversation I ever have with those dickwads.

Heard a green jeans from out west say on the Meateater podcast that MOST of his violation leads come from social media.

I have made mistakes in the woods. Both club rules and state rules.

Just shut the frick up and take care of your business and everything will pass unless of course you are collecting bald eagle tallons or something.

I know of one that killed in arkansas a few years back. The first and second time they were seen in the backyard they were safe, 3rd time was the charm for a dad with small children. I don't even blame the guy. Backhoe made quick work of it.

Everyone should give that episode a listen. I pretty much follow the letter of the law just because I don’t like having to lie and tell second lies and then remember what the first lie I told was.
I somewhat felt sorry for the guy because it wasn’t like he set out to poach the deer but then it gave him an opportunity and when he had done it he knew he had fkd up!!
