^ this guy gets what I was saying. The fella in the OP should not have shot his dog, but it's not anywhere remotely close to murdering a human. I don't understand why this is hard for anyone to understand.

FTR, before y'all assholes start calling me names again I'll give you some more ammunition. I'm against abortion (humans) at any stage in development, believe prayer and butt-whippings in school would solve a lot of humanity's problems, believe a 2-parent household is the best environment for a child to grow up in, traditional marriage is the only union recognized by our creator, taxation is theft, Lee Harvey Oswald was set-up, we did land on the moon, aliens don't exist, travel ball for kids under age 12 is retarded, Ford trucks are garbage, Michael Jordan is the GOAT, Ketchup is only supposed to be used on fried foods, Dearmans' burgers are not much different than Wendy's, Val Kilmer in Tombstone is the most unappreciated movie characters of all-time, and no amount of bridges or interstate lanes would fix traffic in Baton Rouge until they started giving an IQ test with a drivers license issuance. There. Bash away.

It really doesn't work that way. At the end of the season if you have 3 or 4 old dogs you want to get rid of, it's not easy to find people who want old hunting dogs.

I love dogs and have only shot 1 in my life and it was because it was in my chicken pen killing hens, but some people see them as nothing more than a hunting tool.

You are a disgusting human and you have no business around any dogs. The fact that you agree with this heinous act blows my mind. I’ll never understand people like you.

You are correct. I should edit my post to add, or handle it quietly yourself.

Its very unfortunate, but my family's farm has been the dumping site for many people who no longer wanted their dogs and didn't have the guts to do what needed to be done. They would dump them off 200 yards from my widowed grandmothers house and drive away.

Nobody has time to try to re-home a scared aggressive stray dog at 6 am when you need to be planting cotton.

He shot his dog for not retrieving a duck. It's despicable and I think most hunting dog owners will rightfully vilify him for it, but I'm gonna stop short of calling for him to be hanging from the gallows.

I don't think this is the story to try make the "slippery slope" argument. This is the exact piece of shite that needs to be out of hunting. All this guy did was fuel the anti-hunting crowd with jet fuel.

Ethically hunting and euthanizing animals is easy to do.

Pretty sure I said I didn't agree with his actions several times.

If you are talking about the junk on the inside of my truck I agree, but nobody will ever be able to accuse me of littering.

I've never harmed a dog, cat, or any other pet. Doesn't mean I consider them equal to humans, even you.

Real hunters eat what they kill (or let someone else eat).

Pieces of shite kill animals just to kill them. (I understand some hunts are for over population, not vilifying that group either). This guy is a piece of shite. Dogs can be wild, but if domesticated, you have a duty to protect them.

Ok so i live on a farm on a dirt road where people love to drop off their unwanted animals. My county has no pound or animal control officers. If i tried to make pets out of every one of them i would have 50 dogs running around. Humanely what i am supposed do?

I hear ya. But if his hunting partner's account is true? If he really had to drag the dog out of the water with it's guts hanging out and finish him off? Then there was nothing humane about how this guy handled his situation. It was an act of cruelty and he should be punished according to the law.

There's a humane way to do this and shooting the dog in the mid section is not the way. This guy is a sadistic POS if he thinks this is ok.

The SPCA euthanizes dogs in a way that I don't see as any more humane than a shotgun blast to the brain stem. So for me, it's not so much what he did but how he did it.
