But this ain’t the OT. If it were I’d say you’re just a snowflake pussy but we don’t engage in name calling in here, so I won’t.

But they are a tool otherwise duck hunters would let them lay in bed and sleep while the man gets up and goes hunting and swims to get their own ducks.

BamaCajunMan calls others white trash...

One of the most respected man i know took his dog out back and put it down. He will out survive anyone in this thread if it came to that.

The worst thing i ever did in life that i regret as much if not more than anything was not putting a bullet in a dogs head

And that's why they were a small farm instead of a successful ranch

 really very simple:

It's OK to kill game animals in season, domestic animals for food, domestic and wild animals that pose a threat to life or property, and domestic animals that need to be put out of their suffering.

It's NOT OK to kill domestic animals that do not otherwise need to be put out of their suffering, game animals out of season and protected wild species.

*Spiders, insects and snakes are subject to exceptions.

You proved Tenfoe's point with you exceptions comment.
Your cultural upbringing doesnt get to make you morally superior. If you think so, then pet spiders and snakes get the same love as a dog. Likewise, the tree hugger is now morally superior to you because he finds all creatures should be equally loved in nature. Therefore, youre hunting ways are immoral and you should be hung.

No they are not tools. I bring my dog duck hunting because he is my friend and enjoys hunting like I do. If my dog did not like to hunt I would not force him to go get wet and cold just because I need him to get ducks, I can easily get my own ducks. Would you consider your friend to be a tool because he sets out the decoys in the morning while you’re brushing the blind? ( probably not ). Now your probably going to respond and say but my friend is a human and dog is a animal. I like many others treat dogs as mans best friend not a dewalt drill.

I didn't claim I was, but thanks for putting me on that pedestal.

Turn your sarcasm detector on.

This is as false an equivalence as I've ever seen.

Nah. I don't shoot my dog when I hunt because I didn't train it right.

And I don't recall saying the guy should be hung. You said that.

I'll give you some background:

I grew up on a farm, and I know animals are tools. But, as with the tools you keep in your shop, if you treat work animals like shite, they break. And you can most definitely judge someone by the way they keep their farm/shop and by how they treat their animals/tools.

The thread is about people saying he should get hung

The worst, ugliest shops I have ever seen house some of the best craftsman I know.

And you stating when it is and isnt ok to kill an animal gave off an heir of self percieved moral superiority. Who gave you the right to define it vs anyone else?

You think it's OK to kill a dog for not picking up a duck. We get it.

You should just accept the fact that most people don't feel that way about it, and are going to say something about it.

Yeah, this thread is pretty telling and sad..like some ole baw has already said above, how you treat your pets, hunting dogs, livestock tells a lot about the man...

I agree what the dude in OP story did was terrible. A normal person doesn't do that kind of shite.

Ok so i live on a farm on a dirt road where people love to drop off their unwanted animals. My county has no pound or animal control officers. If i tried to make pets out of every one of them i would have 50 dogs running around. Humanely what i am supposed do?

This is a special situation though. You did not take on the responsibility of raising a pet, then injure the pet, and leave it do die.

It's supposed to be funny and is. It's funny that it's real and people actually think like this.

Now that we've got a good bit of the name calling out of the way, and have pretty much decided on which side of the "there's times its appropriate to kill a dog" argument most folks are on, I feel its time to discuss this fact:

The guy supposedly holding the moral high ground and pushing this thing on social media and the news has chosen to remain anonymous.

Should he man up and own this thing? Is it ok for him to shove ol'boy under the bus from the shadows? If what he's doing is so noble ( and I agree that the guy should be looked at) why does't he sign his name to it?

That ought to keep this one alive for a while

This thread is ate up with dumbass, is there anyone in here who thinks the guy shooting the dog in the gut twice and leaving it to drown, resulting in his buddy having to finish it off, was ok? I saw no one say that.

People who purposely force a pet specifically, but any animal or human, to suffer dying through their own actions are sick and twisted.

What was said was, it’s bad, but I’m not gonna call for his head on a stake, because certain people can’t differentiate killing any animal from torturing one.

I don’t have a clue what a fish goes through once it has a filet knife passed through it after it’s sat on ice, for a few minutes. I don’t know what a cricket or a worm feels when I shove a metal hook into its body and drown them. I don’t do it out of anger, but certain people, like PETA will take that and run with it, group you in with this guy and want all fishermen to pay fines or do jail time

Youre still missing the point here after 5 pages. Noone is saying you would be a monster for putting a dog down that is old/sick or aggressive/dangerous. But it is fricked up to shoot your own dog in the stomach and leave it to die just because its not a good duck hunting dog. Dont hunt the dog or give the dog away if you purely want a hunting dog. Furthermore, if you humanely euthanized your own dog for the sole reason that it doesnt hunt well then i wont go as far as calling you trash but id say your pretty close and I wouldnt associate with you any longer. If someone gut shoots his/her dog and leaves it to die or if a person supports doing so then they ARE trash. If someone cant understand that then they're probably part of the heap.
