re: Sally - Moving towards Georgia - Potential for Significant Flooding - angus1838
I am in Geneva County Al right on the Florida line. Went through Ivan, and Michael and had tree damage for both but the rain wasn't too bad. This bitch Sally has dumped rain like I have never seen in my life. And to the poster that asked how horses do in this weather I just had to get 3 out of the...

re: Pulsed Aluminum Welding Recommendations - angus1838
I like the Pulsed MIG on 1/8 inch and up but I hate being married to one process. For thinner stuff it's tig all day for me. Not to mention if I want to weld some carbon together I just swap leads and tungsten and get to welding. Lincoln has come up with a multi process machine that is pulse mig com...

re: Meat prices spiking. Here is supposedly why. - angus1838
I know our exports (weight wise) are just about even to our imports and the quality of our exports outshines what we import. I think by halting everything except Canada and Mexico it would go a long way towards restoring balance from the excessive supplies of fed cattle on hand. As producers time i...

Really interested in what you think about this [link=(https://www.forbes.com/sites/jordanstickler/2020/05/20/trump-suggests-ending-cattle-imports/amp/)]Trump talking about stopping imports[/link] I personally think that needs to be done except for Canada and Mexico. Halt New Zealand, South America,...

re: Beef prices and farmers... - angus1838
If you buy from the store, it’s likely coming from Brazil or Argentina
This is just false. More than likely you are buying US beef. And that's the problem without cool you don't know what you are buying. We just now lifted the ban on Brazilian beef. The ban was put on them in 201...

re: Beef prices and farmers... - angus1838
I found my break even at about 75 head. I have a little over 250 now. You can scratch out a living but it would be hard. I supplement that with row crop and some produce. Funny thing is I might make 25 grand a year doing all that. Most of my expense is payroll cause I actually work a regular job and...

re: Beef prices and farmers... - angus1838
Because more often than not (according to the farmer and his feed techniques) you will be getting a much better product. I said that 7.70/ pound was high but realize the cuts you are getting it's not just 6.00 a pound ground beef. Go buy select cuts of the beef you would get and look at those prices...

re: Beef prices and farmers... - angus1838
First off thefarmer has to set up appointment with a usda butcher in order to sell the beef. At this point most are swamped. The fastest I can get one in is in December around here. 7.70/pound is pretty damn high but not much higher than the store. Here is last weeks prices on the hoof SLAUGHTER CL...

re: Trade School Starting Monday - angus1838
First of that was solid advice by 69. Structural welders are a dime a dozen so if she washes out on pipe her chance for success really gets limited. Some people have it some don't. That's what I love about apprenticeship programs. They are tought all facets of their respected trades. Take pipe fitti...
