Concealed Handgun Permits only pertain to concealed handguns.

No. Classified as a “dangerous weapon”

Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 14:95
§95. Illegal carrying of weapons

A. Illegal carrying of weapons is:

(1) The intentional concealment of any firearm, or other instrumentality customarily used or intended for probable use as a dangerous weapon, on one's person; or

(2) The ownership, possession, custody or use of any firearm, or other instrumentality customarily used as a dangerous weapon, at any time by an enemy alien; or

Louisiana law says "Illegal carrying of weapons is:
(1) The intentional concealment of any firearm, or other instrumentality customarily used or intended for probable use as a dangerous weapon, on one's person". LSA-R.S. 14:95

A “Dangerous weapon” includes any gas, liquid or other substance or instrumentality, which, in the manner used, is calculated or likely to produce death or great bodily harm. LSA-R.S. 14:2. Court decisions say this can be a gun, knife, brick, stick, or pretty much anything that meets the definition.

It doesn't look like there is a specific statute on brass knuckles or batons, but they would likely be categorized as a dangerous weapon, under the general definition, so that it is unlawful to conceal them on one's person.

You can test it, but you may have to go to jail first and pay a lawyer a few grand to get the answer.

The concealed carry law specifically refers to allowing the carry of handguns, not other dangerous weapons.

LSA-R.S. 40:1379.3(B)(1) A concealed handgun permit shall be issued only to a Louisiana resident who qualifies for a permit under the provisions of this Section. A concealed handgun permit issued pursuant to the provisions of this Section shall grant authority to a Louisiana resident to carry a concealed handgun on his person.

I don't see anywhere else in the statute where it authorizes the concealed carry of any other kind of dangerous weapon.

It does go out of its way in (J)(3)to specify: “Handgun” means a type of firearm commonly referred to as a pistol or revolver originally designed to be fired by the use of a single hand and which is designed to fire or is capable of firing fixed cartridge ammunition. The term “handgun” shall not include shotguns or rifles that have been altered by having their stocks or barrels cut or shortened.

I see a web site that suggests LA law allows carrying brass knuckles with a permit, but it doesn't refer to any actual law. I don't see where the concealed handgun law allows that.

Anybody know of any other statutes on the topic?
