I see many snake id's on here. I Googled poisonous snakes in Louisiana, the only ones we have are Cottonmouth, Rattlesnake, Copperhead and Coral. I have lived in Louisiana all my life, and I have never seen a Coral. Have any of you guys seen one?

Good question, I’ve heard of a few but they seem pretty rare.

Saw one when I was young in central LA. He was under some bark from an old fallen tree before my grandfather gave it the shovel. Never seen one since.

I've never seen one. I've been told that it's a very shy snake and even if you are near one, it'll likely hide before you can see it.

My brother and I saw one in Franklinton circa 2001-2002. He was stretched out on a palmetto bush getting sun

Fairly uncommon, and the bites are even rarer. The company that made the antivenom actually quit making it almost 20 years ago because it was so expensive to produce and rarely used.

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago and some poster said his dad or grandfather had seen several/ killed several. I just figured his dad worked at the zoo because he damn sure has never seen 'several' in the wild. Coral snakes are very rare.

I have seen two coming out of the woods. Both seen in late evening. From what I have read, they chew and don’t strike. Could be wrong.

Had never seen one until I went to Sicily island wma and saw two within 5 minutes of one another.

Not uncommon on the Kisatchie and calcasieu districts of Kisatchie or really anywhere there are sandy soils. They are primarily nocturnal and if you do see one they try to get away. Very hard to get one to stay still for a photo

I’ve killed 2 on my dads property in cenla. The pic is the one I killed a few years ago at thanksgiving. It was a lot bigger than the one I killed when I was a kid.

Never seen one in the wild. Some knucklehead in SW Alabama got bit by one a couple of years ago. Almost died. He had picked it up.

I’m 61 years old and have seen exactly one in the wild. It was in the roots of a stump we had just pushed over

They're pretty hard to find in most of their range. There's probably not that many of them to begin with, but they also spend most of their time burrowed under leaf litter, or logs, or down in rodent holes.

Found a dead on in Alabama, we had spent a couple days putting some pre-fab box stands together. When we went to pick up all the boxes one was stuck to a glue strip on one of the boxes.

I’ve lived in Lincoln Parish for 16 years and have seen 2 over that span. 1 was in an azalea bed in my front yard and the other was dead in the road after being run over by a car.
